Did he get yanked by Ruud because he kept making a hash of his goal scoring opportunities?

That and he wasnt taking care of the ball enough.

Really pleased for him. He’s got a lot to do to convince me he’s a week in week out Prem player but he worked hard and showed some quality to get the assist.

Worked hard but was struggling to form any kind of cohesion with Justin, leaving Justin very exposed to Wan Bissaka's strength and pace. Chuck Kudus into the mix (he was excellent I thought) and the 2 were totally outgunned. Bit worrying. Lad did good all things considered though.

Yeah I agree. I felt a bit sorry for him first half, have no idea why we kept pumping long balls to him in the air, Kilman was eating them up every time. Cannot fault his work rate at all, his physicality needs to come on as well if he’s to really make it in the big league.

RVN switched him to the other side second half, presumably as he and JJ played like virtual strangers, particularly in their positional play. Seemed to work as he did manage the assist, although I thought he had over hit the pass at first.
The lad tries hard, hopefully he can improve with coaching.

He's just not up to the pace at this level. He doesn't have the time he needs to make the right decisions which is a shame because his game is based on finding decent positions (which he's good at).

Always want to see an academy player succeed but he was pretty awful today. Wasted so many good opportunities for us to create something. Credit for the assist though (although there's an argument that the pass wasn't quite right if Bilal had to stretch for it).

I know he played a little at wingback/fullback so wonder whether that's his route to success?

Sorry, Championship standard.  Had one reasonable game.

Game was won by great performances by Wilf, Soumare (never saw that coming), Viktor, Mads of course, BEK, Buananotte AND Coady and Jannik were decent.

He is a player I really like, still very raw and maybe not the most technically gifted but he is a great outlet especially on the counter, he works really hard, has a great engine and is defiantly a team player and is capable of getting into decent positions.

Good to see him get an assist as this is an area I feel he needs to improve on. Funny enough was chatting with my lad watching the game last night and he made a good point that maybe Kasey would be a good option to play full back longer term.

Yet that one change made a massive difference to our attacking threat and energy in midfield, Facundo gave the ball away a lot more than Mcateer.

I have to say I really don't get the love in. He just isn't good enough for this level at all. He struggled in the championship for us bar a few back post tap ins. Positional awareness is non-existent, he isn't quick, barely picks the right pass, doesn't tackle, has zero strength. The kicker for me, he doesn't get into one of the worst Ireland teams I've ever seen, if Ireland were a club side they would struggle in League One. That is his level. Because he has come through the academy our fans seem to be blinded by his lack of any genuine ability. Last night he was awful first half, offered nothing and squandered 2 golden chances, 2nd half was slightly better but only when he had time and space because West Ham were chasing the game.

I’ve always thought he might be better off playing further back as a fullback (probably just fan delusion to be fair) but he did play as a wingback for the academy sides I think.

I think everyone puts the blue tinted specs on for academy prospects. I'm with you but I still think he's useful off the bench.

Mavididi needs to sort himself out, he should be starting ahead of McAteer
