Club were playing hard ball with him and his contract. The feeling seemed to be why should he be given minutes over other youngsters who had committed their future to the club already? Glad it’s sorted and he can either push for a place or go out on loan to gain more experience of men’s football.

hopefully he'll be involved with the first team more now and imo we'll need him over the xmas/new year/AFCON period

Good news. Wonder if he’ll get a loan second half of the year now (providing he recovers from whatever injury he currently has)? 
 

6 months at a decent L1 club would be good for his development.

Believe it was a bad case of “signthecontractitis” all recovered now

I'd love to see more academy players get chances, even if it's just 20 minutes at the end of the game during a comfortable win. Seeing the rise of Kasey McAteer has been a real highlight of the season so far.

Excellent. Once he's back fully fit he's a part to play in January. I think he'll then get a loan move at the end of the window unless he's ripped it up for us.

I'm yet to be convinced he makes it at this level, but then again I've been very surprised by Kaseys development.

They aren't refusing to sign new deals, they haven't been offered anything yet

Still think he's better than McAteer but I've been wrong plenty of times before.
