You cannot go flying into a challenge like that in the game today.  With a VAR review that should have been a red too.

It’s where and how he catches him isn’t it - refs are looking for that sort of contact.

 

And I know ‘winning the ball’ is not necessarily a consideration these days and that it’s a tackle that could be considered ‘dangerous’ - but I’m still not sure I want that given as a foul.

If you can't stop yourself going straight through a player after a tackle then your not in control. It's never a pen 10yrs ago. But is a pen 100% of the time now.
