Will Enzo walk ?

If we don't get promoted I'm not sure who will want him. First job sacked after a few months; then couldn't get one of the best Championship squads ever promoted. If we do get promoted he might leave if he gets a better offer.

 

He plays a very specific way which he has gone on record saying requires lots of time to learn. Most clubs don't have that time. They want someone who can make an immediate impact or work with what they've got.

 

Plus, he wants very specific players to fit his system which means alienating good players who you might need if he leaves (Soutter, Kristensen, etc). He doesn't want left backs. If he leaves at the first sign of trouble after assembling a squad in such a way other clubs will be wary about to appointing him (especially with PSR now so important).

 

Look what happened to Marco Silva years ago when his stock was quite high. Joined Watford, downed tools and binned them off after only a few months to move to Everton. When he got sacked there he found no other Premier League clubs would appoint him; they viewed him as a mercenary who would leave at the first opportunity. He had to go back to the Championship after over a year unemployed. 

 

If Enzo binned us off at the first sign of trouble he might find himself in a similar position - especially when he wants a very specific squad and players.

If he cocks promotion up,who cares .Besides paying him and his entourage  off won't be cheap either .

If he gets an offer from Spain or Italy, he'll be off. I dont think he realised how inept Top and Turdkin are. TBH I wouldn't be that disappointed, as others have said, he's too rigid and impractical to be successful working on a shoestring budget.

If he blows a 17 point lead (or whatever we had), with the biggest resources in the league and one of the best squads in the league, then I don't see how walking away would benefit him.

Because he can blame it on all the noise around the club at end of season and point to his opening 6 months.

 

If he blows it this year, I struggle to see him putting that right next year.

True on both points. When winning it's easy for managers really, you only see how good managers are when they go through a bad spell. See then how they handle it and if they turn it around. Like you, I don't see him putting it right next season either.

I think he could land a good job still even if we bottle it. It would be easy to spin the idea that the chaos around the club led to our downfall rather than his management.

I wanted him in the summer. Depressingly though if we don't go up I don't even think he'd come. I think you're looking more in the Cifuentes sort of bracket at that point. Our advantage will have largely been wiped.

Given we won't have any money to spend, regardless of division, I think he'll look to go elsewhere. Even more so if we get promoted. We need so much more in recruitment and I can't see that he'll be happy about being promised funds for transfers and then those not materialising. Nothing points towards us suddenly having the money to do so in summer or even January...

The way I read it is that we will have money to spend because we would technically be in the next cycle - its that we need to sell by 30th June to recoup losses of the last cycle ? We do of course have the transfer embargo if we remain the championship of course.

Fans need to stop having a go at the club and get behind them and more importantly Enzo and the team.

 

The owners may not be perfect but I am a little mystified as to what the fansa ctually want. If the owners showed no ambition and we were a yo yo team like Burnely or Bournemouth, the fans would be whinging. 

 

We never would have won the league and and FA Cup without this ownership. 

 

Yes theyve made mistakes, Rudkin being the biggest one, but there is a lot worse out there. New owners will change little, there is no physical way to suddenly increase our turnover and income overnight. 

 

The real issue with all this is that the FFP and PSR rules are absolute horse shit. They effectively mean small clubs can never invest in growth, even if it is sustainable. They can never hope to grow beyond a certain point. To remain within the rules the non greedy six would need to sell their players to the greedy six or other giants who are mortaged up to the hilt!! Its an absolute joke, it also allows the greedy xi to lowball on offers as they know some clubs 'need' the money. No one can pretend to me that this isnt putely to protect the status quo, the greedy six and all involved. All I can say is **** them and I hop the club make a mokery of this whole shower of corrupt shit for the good of football.

Hes already hinted hes not satisfied and was clearly annoyed  by the Sensi deal collapsing at the last minute due to funds/ FFP .

 

 

He came over as fully understanding the issues surrounding the Sensi deal but never annoyed imo. He did very well with what was done for him transfer and loan wise in the summer and the January window is always precarious. If Milan changed the deal at the last minute and we were unable to fulfil it then that's just tough and the way it goes sometimes. Enzo still has arguably one of if not the best squads to work with in the Championship. 

 

Next season will be a new dawn and wherever we are we'll just have to deal with it. If he goes he goes.

I think he’ll end up in Spain or Italy. He can’t lose whatever happens. Go up and his stock will be high. Don’t go up and he’ll have the excuses of the financial situation playing it’s part.
