I genuinely believe the reports in the press are correct and Ruud has been left hanging in the hope he walks. Except the strategy hasn't worked and the club's going to have about 30 days in July to recruit a manager and players before the season Starts 8th August. The whole situation is an embarrassing farce, our incompetent board have really excelled this time. All they need now to reach a new low is an EFL transfer embargo, and having to keep and unmotivated Ruud because they can't afford to replace him. 😞 Neither of us know for sure, but I'd be staggered if the board and Ruud have not talked since the season ended.

He got them steady, did lots of work behind the scenes to sort the mess out. This was recognised by Moyes who said he had left them in good shape. There could be an argument that Dyche did a lot of the ground work for Moyes to then be successful. Dyche is a square peg for us. But there are reasons we may be appointing him. He would clear the dead wood, sort out the dressing room and the attitude, and sort the defence out. Could we appoint him as a short term fixer, with the view of someone else coming in after a few seasons to then build on that? Quite possibly. Also not having the narrative that Dyche doesn’t give youth a chance. He absolutely does. And Dwight McNeil is actually a good player, he’s just not fancy. How many goals did he score for a poor Everton side last season? Above everything, we need someone who is going to do the things off the pitch. Style is not a priority right now, we are a mess. Let’s worry about style later on when we have survived a season in the premier league. We won’t have much money to spend either, so that is reassuring in that if he did come in, he wouldn’t be spunking big money on workmen. He would largely have to work with what we have, buy a few cheap players, and look at the young lads. Rohl is a better option imo. But I don’t know if it’s possible. There are worse appointments than Dyche given what a mess we are. Dyche is a Pearson type appointment. The problem with Dyche is how on earth do you build on from Dyche. Say you get him in as a short term fixer, he does end up stabilising us, but then we decide to move elsewhere. Who on earth do you turn to, when he’s more than likely built a squad for his style of football, which as we know is pretty old school and not pretty. Everton going back to Moyes showed some continuity, and that’s exactly what we need to give us a better chance of being stable in the future, a continuity plan though of Dyche, then someone similar, it doesn’t really whet the appetite does it. The narrative of him not giving youth a chance, I’ve pointed out in the past regarding that narrative not stacking up, fans who claim that clearly haven’t done enough research on Burnley’s squad during his tenure… However, he also does have a habit where he loves experienced players. When ideally we need to get the average age of our squad down, if Dyche came in, it’s highly likely that the average age of our squad may rise instead. If Dyche came in, you could easily see Michael Keane or Ben Mee or numerous other 30+ year olds walking through the door too. After what happened last summer with Cooper signing Ayew and BDCR, a lot of fans myself included, don’t want to see signings like that again. I can see why fans would advocate for Dyche, he does have his positives. But the negatives outweigh the positives, just the thought of his style of play at the King Power, along with the possibility of him bringing in a chunk of 30+ year olds, it’s a depressing thought tbh.

We went out and spent big transfer fees on both (for the Championship), more than both were were and slapped them on big wages, again more than should be the case in the Championship. I don’t get what you are referring to by reducing the value of players on the books. The way out of PSR trouble would be to bring in players with resale value and scope to improve, whilst reducing the wage bill. None of the names I highlighted improve us in the here and now, bring down the wage bill or provide a route forward via resale value. What possible positive is there to these decisions? You're correct I misread the previous post and then went off half cock.
Sankey93 Posted 8 June 2025 Posted 8 June 2025 If it isn’t Rohl then I hope to god we get a few names out the blue that we all approve ( we won’t ) going for dyche would be a awful move imo he’s a dinosaur. Henrik Rydstrom Kjetil Knutsen Gerhard Struber 2

winteriscoming Posted 8 June 2025 Posted 8 June 2025 I don’t think it’ll be Rohl or Dyche. I reckon we’ll get Hassenhutl.

Coventry were massively underperforming for whatever reason, he galvanized them but I don’t think their upturn was down to his tactics more a case of the players actually trying again. I bet he’s fired by December this season 1

Great post and fully agreed reference Dyche .Believe you me, he will sort out the dead wood and show pony's. Would take Dyche all day long. People saying he wont suit the playing style is garbage as we don't have one. Half these players will be gone or at least want to be so will be frozen out under Dyche. The thing i would disagree with is Danny Rohl, why are people raving about him? he done nothing. Kept Sheff Wed up wow! Massive risk appointing him IMO Less so Sean Dyche 2 1

Wasn't Rohl, Hassenhutl's Assistant at Southampton? So, I guess he'd have a similar approach to games. I'd be (reasonably) happy with Hassenhutl - given the quality of Managers who are likely to want to come to us at the moment. His record (apart from a few matches at Southampton - one particularly!) overall, is pretty good. I'd probably prefer Rohl, but even if we do manage to get him, he'd soon be on his way to any Bundesliga club, if a decent vacancy cropped up. 1
