I hate videos like that, politics is so.more complicated, hence why I belive were fooooked

Your average Labour, Tory or Lib Dem voter also couldn't name a key policy, and the Greens only because they are a single-issue party.  Politics is about feel as much as facts, as daft as that is.

I wonder why this thing isn’t shut down..

Largely because it is an important cultural event, and the overall crime rate for the weekend is lower than say a music festival.  Crime is concentrated in one place, not actually much higher than a normal weekend.

Not sure how many have been to the carnival, but the objective of a large proportion of attendees is to get as absolutely wrecked as possible. Behaviour at the thing has been horrendous for decades. Comparing it to Glastonbury is laughable.

I think the headlines would more likely focus on England taking around 2 million away if the two events are being compared

Leeds took more

The painting roundabouts thing is proper oddball behaviour, what a weird place we live in

If it encourages people to drive round ‘em rather than over then I’m all for it.

Same with the St George flags - Hinckley at the weekend looked like we were in the World Cup Final.

I think that an issue with all this is that it's difficult to say who is doing it in the name of patriotism, and who is doing it in the name of nationalism.

Two very different things with very different intents.

The flags will die down when the villages start saying it's uncouth and it's running our house prices down.

Spent a lot of the weekend in South London. Didn't have a problem all weekend or saw anything until the single drug deal in Pimlico.

And the same is true with any overt showing of any flag/symbol - intent, and context, matters.

The ratios of arrest and attendee of events is pretty much the same. Around 0.01% to 0.02%

If you use Notting Hill, Glastonbury and say England fans in Amsterdam (2018) when they acted like prats travelling with c10k

Although you have to compare the likely levels of tolerance on cannabis at Notting Hill (70 arrests) compared to Glastonbury and the increased police presence per person.

Though having said that I worry the other day that I'd somehow missed a year and England were in the World Cup Final or summat

Went to Devon for the bank holiday. Saw a lot of flags, including a Trump one FFS. Some oddball had parked his white van adorned with Union Flags and the slogan "Starmer and his cronies out" at the side of the A303.

Pretty weird hobby IMO.
