Seems like it's gone spectacularly wrong for Trump. I'm sure, based on the original intelligence the idea was a Venezuela-type scenario, where the main man was taken out, but oops, they also killed the preferred candidates to take over. They didn't quite foresee oil shooting up so high so quick and with maga fans thinking that cheap gas is a birthright,  he doesn't want irate truckers at the pumps and talk of higher food prices, fanning the flames of the affordability debate.

"I have a plan for everything, okay?" he told a reporter from the New York Post when asked about spiking oil prices. "I have a plan for everything. You'll be very happy."

Thank Jebus. Here I was thinking they were bombing the shit out of a country without a plan. Silly me.

If trump does cut and run, it will be hilarious watching the backtracking, gaslighting and outright denial by all those claiming it was a just war to save the Iranian people from the regime that is still in place.

He was hoping the students and such rose up again and save him a job. 2000 of them allegedly being killed last time has probably put that down for some time though.

It sounds like Putin has offered to ship all the uranium out of Iran so that Trump can call it a day, say he’s denuclearised Iran and everyone carry as if nothing happened lol.

Word was that the Iranians offered this last month.  Could be that this was mis leaked and was an American demand which Iran had refused. Perhaps they’ll now take it to stay in control.  If Putin has told trump he has Iranian agreement to this then maybe that’s what prompted the comments that it will soon be over.

I think what  people have to realize is that what constitutes victory for the  United States is different to what constitutes Victory for Iran. For Iran,  regime survival and to be in control of their own decisions is victory, it doesn’t matter about their navy, their air force or missile stockpile. If their regime survives and they get to choose their own leaders, then they’ve won.

They being the 25% that support the regime rather than the 75% that don’t.  trump will have let down all those he messaged ‘help is coming’ in January. Then the Iranian people can join the back of a long queue.

you are quite right and I should have perhaps  explained better. By saying ‘Iran’ I do of course mean those in charge

Is there a good news thread on here at all? Or shall I just jump straight into the depression one?

It is rather tiring to live in reasonably unprecedented times.

It's exhausting, and there appears to be nothing to look forwards to remotely positive.

im not quite sure where you got the idea from that he ever thought it would be in and out Venezuela style. He’s always said it would take a few weeks and there will be likely loss of American servicemen lives. I’m 100% sure they saw the oil prices jumping and that’s why they got Venezuela first. His recent comments about it almost being over were purely to steady the oil market and being the oil price down and it worked although I’m sure it’s only temporary.

Iran have been preparing for this moment for decades. Why would anyone  think it would be over in a day?

in a bizarre twist, it’s one of the reasons I actually moved to the United States. I have land, several acres , chickens, trails to take my ATVs on.. A nice stream running along the back of it that my kids love playing in. I don’t have  see anyone, turn the tv on or pick my phone up if I don’t want to.

Yes, there is. It's actually on the front page.

A better day will dawn. Or it won't.

Either way, the status quo won't continue, and take comfort in that.

Can't say I'm Aluko's biggest fan but I'm glad for her her court case has been resolved with Barton. Which amusingly results in Barton needing to pay over £330k to her in the process!

Bad week for the vile cvnt so far lol

Over 70 million people considered the current occupant of the White House to be President material.

Sadly the thought processes of quite a few people appear... rather inexplicable.
