I dunno, they say the Championship is the 5th or 6th best league in Europe. To be at a high flying championship side is hardly playing in a pub league. I also think BEK could do with a year in the championship for his own development as much as anything. 1

Plus we need the money really, albeit money from Ndidi, JJ and Hermansen would probably cover all our needs without holding us back on the pitch where BEK would be a loss. Does feel a bit like the club managed to just about land his release clause in a good sweet spot, though, where it's reasonable enough for him to not kick off but just slightly out of reach of what most clubs want to pay for him. 1
les-tah Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 yeah not sure how that makes sense or even true to try get rid of of most talented cm

Do we know that he clearly wants out? We know his agent is trying to make money from a move and Bilal would be daft to not be interested if a big team came in for him but that seems unlikely.

I think fans forget how young Monga actually is, I get it, I've not been this excited by a youth player in a while but it'd also be massively detrimental to his career in the long-term expect a 16 year to play an entire season in the Championship whilst still physically developing. That’s fine, but next time people complain about us not trusting youth, we should revisit.

He went on strike at his last club to get a move to the Premier League. If his agent is actively looking to get him a move back Europe's top five clubs, I think you'd have to be extremely naive to think BEK isn't on board. Sacha Tavolieri is like a mini Fabrizio Romano for Belgian players. He's not flawless but he's fairly reliable and like Fab he clearly operates by getting "in" with key agents. He broke all of the news about BEK coming to Leicester and was prolific in updating every two minutes. He started linking BEK to moves away from Leicester shortly after the season ended and it was him that broke the news Bilal has a relegation release clause and that X, Y and Z club considers Bilal an option. Again, I'm sorry, but you'd have to be a bit naive to not put all of this together in to a pattern. It doesn't take a conspiracy theorist. The most important question is whether Bilal is professional enough to put a shift in if he doesn't get a move. He's been one of the first names on the team sheet in pre season and has seemed to work hard in the friendlies, I also thought he was one of the most combative and energetic playing under Ruud. I think he just generally seems to have a better work ethic whilst he's at a club than someone like Fofana did. So I'm sure if something doesn't materialise we'll probably get decent performances out of him this year. But as this month ticks on, we're probably going to get more and more desperate and if we can't sell anyone else, I'll be amazed if we don't lower our asking price for BEK who, let's just be realistic, would jump at the chance to get back to the Prem or go to the Bundesliga. 1
moore_94 Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 (edited) I have seen it mentioned on Twitter that his release clause apparently ends on 15th August Does anyone know where that came from? Edited 6 August 2025 by moore_94

I would think he would still put his all in. I mean, he even did in the last pre-season friendly, which was unexpected in the circumstance but he ran himself into the ground. It’s also not a situation where we are blocking him, it’s clubs not going for him. I get the impression he will crack on whatever way this goes.
Deeg67 Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 I think Leeds very likely would take him yesterday. It's a question of him waiting to see if someone not in a relegation scrap makes an offer. BEK wants top flight football, Leeds is having a hard time getting well-regarded attacking players to take their money. One way or another he's probably gone - if no one else triggers the release clause, he'll signal Leeds he's ready to sign and they will.

Youth is 18/19 to 21 Kids are 15 to 18 The likes of Monga have proved to be more than worthy of a place on the pitch when he comes on as sub. I still believe 15, 16 and 17 year olds should be protected from too much responsibility in the first team. Ideally if they have the talent then 10-20 minute cameos are ideal when they're on the pitch a short time and they can give everything they have in short bursts until the time their performances can no longer be ignored. Monga is making a case for a start on ability alone but I would like to see him managed and come on in bursts. As for our other youngsters I've not seen enough from them yet that they can oust the senior professionals here. However I would like to see them on the bench and given opportunities.

He needs to play himself into contention. Look back at Joachim, or Heskey. They didn't start the season but made impacts off the bench and in cups during their first campaigns and made themselves undroppable. Others like Barnes or Chilwell did it on loan. You can't just decide, they're young so play them. Let him get a few sub apps and a few assists or goals coming on as an impact then we'll know if he's ready for a run in the side.

One year in the Premier League where you get 10 goals, 5 assists and you're gonna get a contract off someone for £150k a week. One year in the Championship where you get 20 goals and 10 assists and you're gonna get a contract off someone for £60k a week. The Premier League is simply where the money is and where the eyes are looking. Bilal, like any ambitious footballer, will fancy his chances of being a regular for an elite level club. He's not going to catch their attention in the Championship. 3

Maybe not a release clause, but I'm assuming most players would require a relegation release clause fee (like Ndidi)
