Why?
the player and his agent will find the club that they want.  We have to decide whether we are keeping an unhappy player or taking the best deal we can get.  Mads fee has already shown our weakness in the market to clubs.  Whilst there is a RC we can say ‘that’s the clause, pay it’. Once it’s gone the only bottom we can effectively enforce is his psr value.   If he goes after the weekend then I’d expect a fee around. £22/24m inc add ons

our experience in keeping unhappy players isn’t great. They generally don’t try as hard as we need them to.

Because the release clause is us saying "if you want him, this is the price and only before that date as after that we don't want to disrupt our squad" - anybody coming in after that date should in theory pay a premium for approaching outside the window we set out.

Release clause is there to favour the bidding club, that's the point of putting one in the contract from the player's point of view. Once it expires we have more leverage.

Context takes precedent over all of that.

we don’t want to keep an unhappy player and we could do with the money.  However, as the fee drops below 25m the psr input becomes limited and we would be better served in trying to keep him.  If the agent is intent on moving the player and the player is ok to stay then I’d say once the RC expires it’s more likely he stays. (If we give a guaranteed commitment that he can leave next summer if we don’t go up).   I just don’t see a club paying north of 25m for him.

no shock really, BEK at Palace is the best choice imo, just for his overall development

just hope neither bid till after the 15th

Any team without Soumare would be perfect for BEK so he can receive a pass quickly in an area where he can cause damage, not dropping deep constantly.

Surely Omari Hutchinson would be more appealing to these clubs, as a better (for them) alternative to BEK

If I was running a football club, I'd be seriously looking at:

location of the player

Where he is in terms of wanting out of the current club

returns in terms of goal contributions

and of course value for money

I think BEK is still too raw for either Newcastle or Palace. I think Omari fits Palace better as a replacement for Eze, and Newcastle quite frankly don't need BEK (ie - he's not a winger, striker or goal keeper)

Supposedly Nixon said (I read it second-hand) BEK is leaning Leeds because he doesn't think he'd get minutes at Newdastle or Spuds.

Palace are looking at BEK now, and he'd certainly get game time there, in fact i think thats the perfect place for him if he was to leave

We will have zero creativity. The club social media with be #BobbyReid back in training. To much reliance of Abdul and if he leaves we are really done.

If we dont go up this year we will be here for the long run, ala Stoke.

What gave you the false sense of security after everything that has happened in the last few years and the 2nd relegation on the bounce with PSR again hanging over our heads - that the club would go all out to keep our best players in the hope of success with players then leaving for nothing at the end of the season (sound familiar) with no guarantee of anything. And this is after zero communication the whole close season and delayed actions to clearly ensure compliance with the football reporting periods.

I honestly thought going into this season we would have to sell and utilise youth accepting we may not go straight back up.

I would despise the owners - even more than I do now - to see them bank the future of the club they’re clearly unable to keep bank rolling in the hope that we outspend our rivals in the hope of promotion. Then go into a prem season unprepared again as our board struggle to recruit a whole squad at prem standard like they’ve done for numerous transfer windows now.

I would rather take the unhappy player, I'm sure he would get over it and knuckle down to get his place in the world cup next year.

If we go up his value remains the same or even increases if he has a good season.

I doubt his price will drop after the release clause ends

Yeah if anything puts us in a stronger position in negotiations

Wouldn't mind us spending £15m on Rudoni at Cov

That sort of price would get us Alvyn Sanches who is destined for big things.

Currently long term injured...

But a very good idea. Maybe winter window?

Really doubt we buy anyone for that sort of figure.

Maybe an agreed loan/obligation on promotion, but not outright.

Yep, similar to what Ipswich have done with loan for Akpom, loan for Cajuste and what Sunderland did last year with Le Fee

Not sure why Newcastle would be in for him tbh, they have Tonali, Jeolinton & Willock in the CM/AM roles & you can add the highly rated 19yr old Miley into that also who could feature more this season.
He's already got a €22m MV on 'that' website which i know isn't true MV but using that site as a guide only Bilal himself has a higher MV than Miley in our entire squad, i know we are championship but if we look at Palace for instance there are only 4 members of their squad with a much higher MV than his, yes again i know its not true MV but its a base of every team on 1 site.
They also have enough wingers, surely all their purse will be going on a striker repalcement anyway.

Transfermarkt give players a "market value" which even they admit is not really anything to do with how much the player is actually worth. It is essentially meaningless and using them as a guide is a waste of time. For example, Fatawu's market value is apparently €11m, lower than Soumare's and Kristiansen's.
