Thought Ayew was poor to be honest. He holds on to the ball for far too long. Numerous times he was too busy trying to battle when he could get the ball out to the wide men much quicker. That it likely to cause us issues going forward.

Yeah I thought he was trying to do too much, as if he doesn't trust those around him, which is worrying.

But although he held the ball too long, he did well with it when needed (except the free kicks and long shots)

Far from a convincing result but a defeat would've been disastrous so it's important to come back and winning it late brings a feel good factor too.

Can't comment on performance as didn't watch

Glad to get through that with 3 points.  Just watched the game on holiday in a pub full of Wednesday fans and I can’t fault them and wished them all the success for the future.  We all loved the scenes at5 minutes in and the support their fans got from ours.

As for the game, Soumare confirmed everything we already knew about him, Ayew is piss poor as a striker, Winks has to play and I’m not sure how I feel about our goal scorers - I wouldn’t have them anywhere near our 11 but I’ll take it!

Cliché as it is, 2 complete different halves. First half we were passive, let them come at us and cause problems.

Second half we were so much more alive. Hassling, pressing, actually attacking.

Their keeper was on fire today

He’s highly rated. They value him at £8m. If they get close to that, then that will certainly help their cash flow problems..

Ayew, I don’t think so his shot selection including his free kicks were straight at the goalkeeper

He should be nowhere near freekicks and corners, but in those last 30 minutes sat behind Daka, he was everywhere and doing some great work with holding the ball up and getting some shots off. I still hope we have a starting no.9 to come in, but Ayew looks like he could be useful at this level in a two up top or as back up.

What did he say?

It was subtle when asked about a good start to the seasons it's words along the lines of 'well, lots can change let's just see'

Just watched his reaction when we equalised too. None.

Worrying lack of leadership in that side. I like JJ but he isn't captain material. And yet looking at the XI he was by far and away the best choice.

Ayew is the antithesis of the likes of Faes, he knows his limits and his level and still gives 100% every game. He was superb last 20. Looks handy as a 10!

Get players around him and he'll boss this league. But he was so isolated first half and ended up miles away from anyway dangerous

I think this is a big problem for us as I truly believe there is 6 or 7 who want out and unless Rudkin can get them gone ASAP we will be stuck with some very unhappy high earners and that is a big problem as not only will it impact performances on the pitch but also severely affects our ability to bring in new players which we desperately need.

3 points is 3 points I suppose.

The lack of creativity in midfield is a worry and Winks must start if he stays. We need a new midfielder ideally.

We also need a new striker. Ayew looks ok when he is the withdrawn striker, but doesn’t stretch the play or hold the ball up like a number nine. I’m not a Daka fan, but I think I’d rather have him lead the line with Ayew behind him if he plays. Of course I’d much rather neither and get someone in.

A word on Faes. Big ego for a poor player - I get it. But what people get from boo-ing their own players I’ll never understand. Like that’s going to help!

I don’t know how anyone can say Ayew was poor, he was brilliant today.. unlucky to not score

I think the problem was, his freekicks and corners were woeful. He should also not be a lone striker. He was a different player when Daka came on.

That last 30mins from him was MOTD stuff, but the first half and free kicks were woeful.

He also worked his socks off and still had a lot of energy until the end. I don't want him to be our no.1 Striker, but as support and a back-up, he looks useful at this level. Just keep him far away from freekicks and corners.

A win is a win but typical citeh we made it difficult.

Obviously early days and lots of work needed clearly…also one or two reinforcements to push on.

Skipp continues to fail to impress.

Winks lifted the performance second half but I see reports he may be off (Brentford, Valencia) and if true we will need to replace him.

Vestergaard coming out of cryogenesis every time we enter the Championship

Hate his attitude but he looks so good at this level. Seems to dominate the game with his pure arrogance alone.
