I think it's a fair question actually, when the rot has well and truly set in, the level of talent in the squad becomes almost irrelevant. Starting every game with effectively 8 men (Soumare Skipp, Daka) makes me very nervous, too.

That said, I don't think we will. I don't think we'll be promoted though. Too many issues and horribly imbalanced squad.

Yes.

On the evidence of the past 3 years - Soumaré plays - 2 seasons - 2 relegations.

Soumaré elsewhere - 1 season - 1 promotion.

He appears to be in the new managers plans - so Div 1, here we come.

I think it's easy to forget how big the drop off is to the bottom end of the championship.

We have some shite but it would have to be bad beyond belief to get relegated from this division over a 46 game season.

I’m not trying to be negative and I appreciate we’re literally only a game or two into the season but after what I have seen so far, I’m seriously concerned we could do a Luton. It’s not that we don’t necessarily have the talent but we just don’t have the fight or right attitude. You need to fight and battle in the championship and I can see so many teams rolling us over because we’re incapable of doing this. I think it could be a very very difficult season

If we lose our better players for example Winks, Bilal, Fatawu and fail to replace them along with a points deduction I can see us having a very difficult season.

These players have proven already that they are not up for a relegation fight in the Premier League. We rolled over week in week out.

Are you suggesting HMS piss the league again has veered off course and is heading straight for an iceberg?

This forum has a serious bi-polar disorder 🤦🏻‍♂️

I'm hoping HMS is on course and is simply a dazzle painted Q ship in disguise only giving the appearance of an unarmed tub full of deadwood when in fact armed with deadly accurate guns ready to sink the opposition

I think it's hard to judge how good or bad we are at the moment. The next few games will tell us that.

I would like to see us bring in a midfielder and strikern ideally, then replace any further outgoings.

I’m 50/50

50% we bounce back either this season or next.

or

50% we capitulate beyond repair and end up like Sheff Wednesday in 2 years time and end up having to sell seagrave to Nottingham Forest to stay afloat.

The problem is that our a-team is good enough to stay up (by how much remains to be seen, depending on how much of it actually gets to play!) - but our b-team isn't, and that's the real problem - we have virtually no depth in many positions...

This all feels a little knee-jerk.

Yes we lost to Huddersfield, and its our first-round loss for many years, but poor Marti is working with a bunch of entitled prima donnas that need to be turfed off, and they will be eventually. Have to keep faith that he gets the funds and then finds a team suitable for at least a top half finish.

To answer the question, no, I genuinely believe this team will not be relegated again. However  a substantial culture change on all levels of the club needs to happen to make sure of it, and a squad refresh too. Too many players that are comfortable and able to not give that 100% our club deserves, and they should just be left to rot whilst we have a more committed starting XI to work with.

YES and with this squad you'd be an idiot to think otherwise.

It won't be because we are the worst side. It's because most of the squad don't give a fvck. Oh I'm not even taking into account a pts deduction. If we are hit with that in the next 2/3 weeks it's over and done with.

Ps No I won't blame Marti. That poor sod don't know what he's walked into.

With a 50 point deduction we might, but not for on the pitch performances.

New manager, new tactics - takes a bit of time.  Depending on who leaves between now and the end of the window might be the difference between play offs and mid table, but not relegation.

We won’t go down purely on the basis in that we will get enough results against the dross in this division to stay up. But I don’t see us being anywhere near the playoffs come the end of the season. I see us reaching 50-60 points maybe at a push.  My guess would be between 10th-12th

Concerned we are selling better players with the right attitude. We do not want to be left with the dross who don't care. I am in no doubt we need to get some money in and reduce wages. Winks, Bilal and Fatawu need to stay. I am not a massive fan of Winks but he is a good player in the championship. Bilal is going to improve and Fatawu is the one who will get you off your seat. If we can offload Soumare, Faes, Daka, Skipp then that would hopefully enable us to bring in some older heads with a better mentality. All of them are poor. We have had Albrighton, Huth, Fuchs and Morgan for next to nothing. Ability with character. The team in my view needs this adding to it and we will at least then stabalise.

We had 28 shots against Sheffield Wednesday as well as 75% possession and an xG of 2.42.

I know the squad could look quite different at the end of the transfer window, not least we are probably going to lose the guy who changed that game after half-time. And I know that's only one game to be used as a sample.

But if those stats are indicative of Cifuentes's methods, I'm confident we'll be strong enough to avoid the drop.
