Nope not joking, a decent source tells me he passed up any compo so he didn’t have to sign an NDA. I assume he’ll bite back at Desmond but he’ll have to be careful if he does as Desmond has very deep pockets.

He wouldn't have got that much compensation considering he was out of contract in the summer. If he was on a long 10M contract like he was here, he would never resign.

He's never recovered from leaving Liverpool. That, to him, was his level. Yeah, he is a Celtic fan but they were a chance for some trophies and adulation before getting back to the real big time. We were next, a nice project for a bit before Man United or Arsenal came calling but it never happened. Celtic again for redemption but, again, it just wasn't enough.

That statement has done for him. The media mates will wail but most others know who they believe.

It’s a massive shame that the relationship of the Celtic fans and board is so fractured, just scanning the Celtic forum and plenty of comments side with Rodgers.

But as Leicester fans reading that statement, it would be no surprise if some of it is true.

“Self-serving” sums Brendan Rodgers up, he acted in the same exact manner here.

It’s about time someone threw him under a bus.

**** can **** off from football for the rest of time as far as I'm concerned. Poisonous little snake did more harm to LCFC than any other manager. (including Tater Pealer).

I remember when I got banned on here for calling him LCFC’s cancer

That Celtic statement is music to my ears. Though go on their forum and they’re all seeing him as a martyr now, falling on the sword in protest of their board

I get that Celtic aren’t happy with their board but everything in that statement rings absolute truth about the snidey cnut- not that the Celtic fans believe it

It does appear he has had a MO to manipulate the situation at clubs to constantly be positioned as the man to take credit for successes and then the victim of others failings bravely fighting against adversity when things go wrong. As the Celtic owner said, self preservation comes first with BR clearly not a team player and a man that can be trusted. No sympathy with him after how he treated LCFC

Watch O’Neil turn it around with the same players Rodgers had.
Rodgers is a poisonous liar.
He’ll wait till the summer when a comfortable mid table premiership club are looking for a manager - possibly Fulham or Palace.
Can’t wait for those twats Sutton and Carragher to come out with nonsense about him being an elite manager.

Nah, Sutton has started to turn I think.

And I don’t think there was a chance of him getting a semi decent PL job again after us, never mind now he’s been outed by Celtic too. His reputation was badly tarnished, but now it’s far worse than that.

'divisive, misleading, and self-serving'

That's what Celtic have said about him.

Yep I'd agree with all of those words and I'd add cvnt to the list

It does all sounds very familiar. In fact it's a regular pattern regarding Rodgers.

After overspending his club's budget, the first two seasons will be brilliant. Fans & press will (rightly) praise his work & football, may win a trophy or two. Then in season three the budget will have to be curtailed - which is understandable, as money is finite regardless of the size of the club - He will row with the board, start briefing his mates in the press about how hard done by he has been, starts sulking in public, alienating everybody at the club in the process, especially the players & results fall off the proverbial cliff...

It happened at Liverpool (briefing the press that he didn't want free agent Balotelli), twice at Celtic (fallout with Peter Lawwell over transfers, same again this season) & with us (overspending on PSR - no transfer activity until fringe players are sold - & subsequently weren't).

Many of you will remember that he nearly joined Newcastle after the Saudi takeover. If that happened I'm sure he would have left there this summer after their spending was curtailed due to PSR, after stinking the place out of course. They made the right decision by appointing Howe, who seems to have a level of maturity & a basic understanding of financial constraints.

I'm not your average FT Rodgers hater. I maintain that the football we played in his first two-&-a-half seasons with us was some of the best I've seen our club play. But this pattern repeats itself everywhere he goes. Surely people must see through him now. My idea of a manager/head coach is one that leaves the club in a better place than when they found it. Rodgers never seems to do that.

Brilliant post and one that wont be bettered on this thread.

Sums up my thoughts exactly, you can still enjoy the football we played in early Rodgers years while acknowledging they happened due to his overspending

Brendan up to his old tricks again, it feels like an element of justice to hear a high ranked director of one of his clubs state some of the things we presume happened with us.

He'll still get another job in the PL but it is unlikely to be an exciting project that his ego needs, he'll need to change drastically in order to get that opportunity again.

Looking back though at our troubles, I don't see another path after 2021/22 that sees us not be absolutely fcuked and whilst 3 years ago I blamed Rodgers almost exclusively for the decline, knowing what we think we know now and seeing the mismanagement from Top and Rudkin, the causation of our deep routed problems run far deeper than the actions of Brendan Rodgers. I've now shifted this to 50/50 between Brendan and his staff (such as Congerton) and the ownership and board/directors (such as Rudkin).

Given we sold Fofana and Maddison and still had 3 year losses greater than the maximum allowance, I'm honestly not sure how the club expected an alternative outcome. Tielemans was always walking away for free once we failed to sell him that summer, as was Soyuncu, Perez and others. At £2.5m a PL place or whatever it was, and being exposed to whatever the cost of needing to replace Rodgers at any time would pitch that at requiring CL qualification I think which is staggering.

The problems our club got themselves in was believing they could dine at the big boys table and the financial obstacles could be dealt with later down the line but there was never any evidence that was viable. Where was the commercial revenue increases during our successful period for reflect us doubling our wage bill, who was responsible for the wages structure - Brendan boasted his tenure had brought renumeration for his squad to that of a big club but more fool the club if they acted solely on the request of that from their manager. Likewise failing to protect high value assets running down their contracts, and I don't mean by not giving them yet another contract on more money but being proactive at moving players on for a fee.

I still think the most destructive issue we had though was Brendan's astonishing contract, that was reported to be £10m a year for 5 years and if reports are true he got paid in full for the remainder of his contract when we did eventually sack him would suggest we had agreed to a reckless potential liability of £50m reducing on the balance sheet by £10m a year that the remainder would be released in full back to the P&L in the year in question. How on earth do you plan financially with something like that around your neck? I cannot believe that is true but if Rodgers and his staff got the reported £20m pay off with around 2 years left of his contract then it computes. Deeply disturbing.

What goes around comes around. Celtic should be relieved he's gone.

I was hoping he'd stay a bit longer at Celtic.    Give Hearts a better chance of winning the league ...

Really hope he’s finished in terms of top level football.

maybe him and Russell martin could have a a career change and start a YouTube podcast. Would be useful to have another useful tool to get the kids to sleep at night.
