The clubs thinking....

We've been relegated twice playing passing style 4-2-3-1 formation....

Announce Ricky Martin in League 1, that'll fix the issue.

We'll not be Livin' La Vida Loca any time soon!!!

Fvck!ng hell.

I’m starting to seriously consider that Top reads all the ‘poison dwarf’ comments and all the stuff about him bumming Rudkin and this is his revenge.

My gosh, Martin over Challinor. Madness

What a stupid decision that is. I can't believe these clowns, even investing their time talking with him.

At least this will be over soon. And they get their Southampton fetish out their system one day.

I mean, if you must have a Southampton fetish, why don't we go for the one that was actually good.  The curtain twitcher.  I'd take him over Martin any day.

Always thought this lad chats waffle ever since his BSLB appearance where he got a load of factual stuff wrong

He’s the new Mercury correspondent. He’s definitely treading carefully in what he says. He will get full access as a club yes man.

The official MSM output will be carefully managed by the club, to talk positively about the club only.

The club don’t listen or care about anything outside the positive feedback loop inside that boardroom.

I get that a club can’t base their strategy around the whims of what we moan about on here. But I don’t get the logic of getting RM with the insistence of the style of play, we know won’t work and will be so boring. Fine don’t listen to your fans, we will talk with our feet and boo and make it toxic if this doesn’t get off to a great start. Then the tools are back to square one, again.

Irrespective of whether Martin is any good (the evidence suggests he's not great), the biggest worry is that the club are going to appoint another manager who the fans are so opposed to. This is the last thing we need right now, given how crucial it is for the club to get the fans back onside and connected.

We need a no-nonsense b@stard in who has a flexible approach and can alter things to react to how a game is going, be that the formation or style. This is why this is a terrible appointment.

Ex Southampton managers I’d rather we hire than Martin

Pearson - obviously

Hassenhutl

Seles

Still

Puel

I’m amazed just how much out of touch we are as a club.
I’ll say I’m amazed but not in the slightest surprised.

Masterstroke by Top this. Give us the guy we DIDN'T want last summer AFTER he went to Rangers and cemented himself as their worst ever manager. Genius!

95% of teams don't play this shit style and have worked out how to counter it.

It's Cooper all over again.

Not even remotely surprised. Only our board could pull back on appointing a manger seemingly because our fans explicitly broadcast at a game how much they dislike him...and then 12 months later appoint him anyway.

Aiyawatt, Rudkin, what the actual **** is wrong with you? Do you have brains like sieves? What exactly is it going to take to listen to the fans and do the right thing, for once?

Every fan wants hope going into a season. The feeling of a new beginning. They simply don’t get that. Going for the same style on a bloke universally considered a bit of joke in football, let alone our fanbase.

Go with a bloke going upwards who doesn’t talk in shite corporate football talk. Just give us something to get behind.

Is this the guy who is the new Jordan Blackwell? Wow it must be easy to get into sports journalism these days.
