just watched the england game, that was the team i remember. utterly toothless against anti football tactics and didnt look like making an effort until the last 5 minutes

Our wide players were very ineffective and as everyone says generally possession too slow and predictable.

Next two games against Panama and as it stands DR Congo will potentially be the same so need to work on that .

Maybe Saka and Rashford could come in ?

It seems like Bellingham got away with putting his hand over his mouth which Almiron was sent off for. At least it's not just the premier league who are inconsistent with their rules

The ref and var did us a solid last night

2nd England game and the defence worries me again. A better team would have scored against us, and Ghana should have done.

I don't think we'll be winning it.

A better team will be attacking us more and we will score 3!  Just need to let in no more than 2...

I thought the starting wingers were really poor last night. Gordon is horribly out of form and I just don't think Madueke is that good, if I'm honest.

Curious decision not to bring on a second striker and try and at least move some Ghanaian defenders away from Harry Kane.

Seeing a lot online that Ghana should have had a stonewall penalty.  Thoughts?

Honestly can't remember the incident but that might have been because I'd fallen asleep.

It would’ve been outside the box. Pickford misjudged a long ball and him and the attacker collided, and Pickford somehow got the free kick, wouldn’t have been a red either as there were players there, just a bit of an odd decision.

I said the same thing earlier, that will come back to haunt us, centre backs not good enough. Also a lot of times James had the ball and it went nowhere, in an attacking position, still strange to not have Trent who would do more with it.

Algeria 0-0 vibes. Fair play DJed Spence, more worrying Declan Rice felt the need to embrace Partey

Nothing like it. Ghana were superb defensively and we will learn a lot from it. It’s a long ass tournament and a game like that is good as we will have problems to solve.

Rice comes across as a massive idiot most of the time

Noticed this and he realised himself straight away.

Stupid rule but I think it has to be in a confrontational manner. Haven't seen the Almiron one though to be fair.

I think he might be referring to the Konsa one after that. Seemed to lunge in and took the man

Yes sorry just picked up on that. You miss these things because English media don’t talk about it but it 100% was.

I thought the guy was given offside for the Konsa one eventually, from the initial ball through?

Nah the offside was after the non foul when the fouled player played it to a player in an offside position.

I think you're right but there's no way he was offside

Yeah absolutely. If it is just a blip then better to have it now after an impressive first game. The pessimistic side of me thinks that might chip away at the belief a little though, although better opposition won't be quite so defensive.

I don't rate some of our players quite as highly as most and I do think we'll struggle against the likes of France, Spain, Argentina etc. I just think their match winning players turn up more regularly for their country

This isn't a result to catastrophise over but we do need to learn from it and sharpish

100% agree and would say the same too.
