Was the wonderwall post game singalong the cringiest moment in football history?

Na, just a communal sing-a-long. Something like that Man City fan pretending to drink out that bottle with an Arsenal badge on it tops it for me

That stat about Netherlands not losing a World Cup game in 90 minutes since 2006 is wild. Even then they’ve only lost one in 120 minutes once since too (2010 final).

Still crazy they didn’t qualify for 2018, considering how they performed in the previous 2 world cups.

Should be limited to 32 teams; 8 groups of 4 and no need for this 'best 3rd place teams' rubbish :yesyes:

Unpopular opinion: now that they've gone to 48, they may as well bump it up to 64 and even out the groups.

I given Russell Martin 30 mins into our first game to take that prize

On reflection.

Leicester owners give fans thousands of Jamie Vardy masks at King Power Stadium in protest to his three-match ban

Also, no idea what's wrong with singing a well known song? lol

Are there more teams playing with right and left footed on the right and left wings so that they can cross from the by-line. There certainly seems to be more goals being scored from crosses like that.

I don't know why clubs have been so entrenched with playing wings on their unnatural side forcing them to cut inside.

Things go in and out of fashion.

It will change at some point.

Well I wish we had changed last season I was fed up seeing Fatawu and Mavividi coming inside to a dead end of defenders. I'm also sure Daka would have scored more from crosses from the goal line, sure he would still have missed some but when you only get one or two crosses a game the failure rate looks massively worse, with 5, 10 + crosses you only need one to go in and you're better off that our and Daka's continual failure to score.

I think it's because full backs don't provide the overlapping runs anymore because they are too busy playing at number 10. So wingers have had to go back to providing width.

Until the knockout rounds, it’s going to be ridiculous comparing outcomes and statistics from this WC to those with 32 or fewer teams.

“From Germany's 7-1 rout of debutants Curacao in Houston on 14 June to Canada's 6-0 hammering of Qatar in Vancouver four days later, there has been an avalanche of goals.” Yeah, Qatar are 57th in the world rankings and Curaçao 81st. Sides of their quality were not part of previous Cups, so one-sided goal feats were less common.

”US have not won consecutive WC matches since 1930.” Well, I’m certainly excited by how they look. But taking the results with a grain of salt. With a dead rubber and then Bosnia or Qatar beckoning, i won’t know how good we really are until the round of 16.
