Toxic Fans Going to Games - Stay at Home

Nothing at all, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to debate how that is best accomplished. The large majority of fans understand that we need new owners and didn’t want Martin as manager, so there’s little fundamental disagreement there. At the same time, many understand that if we don’t get promoted this season our financial situation will deteriorate rapidly and we could find ourselves stuck down here for years.

 

So if you want new owners and also want us to go up this season, what’s the best way of expressing that? Some obviously think that booing individual players is the way to do it, others think that this doesn’t help the team and it would be better if the criticism was targeted at the owners. Personally I’m in the ‘boo the regime, support the team” camp, but clearly many are in the other group.

Yes, the players got an angry away end at the end of the game. As they should have done. The song towards Martin was loud and clear for the Manager, and surely the players and the ownership would have heard that above everything else.

 

Alves, Brayebrook and Page all hang around a little longer and got applause (or certainly the booing stopped). This felt right to me and and the fact they hang around made me feel they understand whats happening more than most at the club do.

 

Really dont see the issue. The support was there - no one can complain the fans dont care. Due to the tactics, it wasnt good enough, and the fans have every right to point this out.

This sounds fairly balanced…. Celebrate the good things call out the bad…. Isn’t that how football should be?

I think @Chelmofox just summed it up perfectly. 
 

And let’s face it, we get great away following, that normally starts really positively, you can always hear the chanting…. And the fans will cheer for all of the good things. Cheer for the good, question the bad. 
 

The thing is, I’m very much heart in my sleeve, j don’t like Martin, I don’t think he’s a good coach and I didn’t want him in the first place….. it’s so hard to constantly be asked to back a failing regime….. this is a different failure than we’ve seen though, as we’ve all said, it’s not a natural football regression, it’s self inflicted, which is what makes it so hard to back, because we’re all suffering the consequences…. Blind hope followed by crushing disappointment. But the worst of it is, we all saw it coming.

If you can’t go to the game and control yourself, and instead just be utterly miserable and literally shouting abuse at your own players, your not really supporting are you and imo abusing that freedom of speech by essentially being abit of next tuesday

 

your frustrations and absolute outrage are absolutely warranted! Look at the state of the Club ffs, I get it, we all feel the same, just some of us don’t want to be abusive, there’s a difference

 

If I could pick out of the 2 options of going to the game to be utterly abusive

just not bother going, the best option would be to just not bother going, vote with your feet is far more powerful than going and shouting verbal diarrhoea when some fans who do still want to go and actually act like some semblance of an ok supporter with their kids etc 

 

it’s not a Leicester problem, this happens at many clubs where things aren’t going particularly great for them, I just think it’s a football toxicity thing where grown men feel they have a right to act like a prat because they voluntary pay for their tickets so think they suddenly have some sort of ownership of the Club

we need the playing conditions for this new squad to be a supportive as possible otherwise we really are F’d

 

but unfortunately it’s gone to far, players probably dread home games, and they aren’t even the players responsible for this mess

 

anger towards the board, protests outside etc, don’t mind, I fully support, but this toxicity is visible on that pitch and it’s just going to screw us over even further 

 

and yes, it can get further sadly

These weird people are likely to say it's justified for other clubs too, but get emotional when our own fans do it.

It gets toxic, when we see that nothing is changing, its mainly aimed at the owners and definitely now russell martin.  Last season negativity was aimed at certain players, this was not becsuse of a general dislike but because for years, fans could see that 0 effort or interest at being at the club was tsking the P.

Now i dont boo, because i feel that everybody feels it. And its not all deserved... should we be singing for 90mins that we want rudders and martin out, absolutely!! 

 

Booing will effect the young lads, and to be fair they have more than stepped up.

Oh, is that right. I thought Sheff Wed fans were supposed to be fantastic and support their players through everything. So they were top, but a home goal less  draw against the bottom club and they boo.

Problem is, football is too expensive. It’s really not a good value for money pass time at all.

 

We’ve done a couple of things recently for my pre-school daughter such as a certain theme park with a kids favourite pink pig character themed area and things like zoos. You look at the price and think wow that’s a lot. But it is generally about £25/£30 per person. You get all day in these places and the ‘product’ is as guaranteed as it can be.

 

Football on the other hand, is upwards of £30 for an adult, for 90 minutes and the product is as unpredictable as it can be. 7 goals at Stockport last week was as good a value as you’ll get but then you get a 4-0 hammering or drab 0-0 at MK for example. Given this is increasingly expensive for people in relation to the cost of living, along with how passionate people feel, it is unsurprising that it prompts such strong reactions from people. Even if it’s not nice and not want you’d want (let’s be honest we’d love things to be going well and to be positive around the club), it’s understandable. 
 

This was just a side point to it being a ‘football in general problem’. 
 

Personally, I’ve been in the not giving them money and not bothering for a number of years now. But remember doing this gets you called not a true fan as well so if you’re unhappy with the club, you can’t really win as you get called a bad supporter if you don’t go and a bad supporter if you go and don’t behave positively. It’s a sad situation.

Lost last week lost today chant has been sung for years, even when in and around the top six in the prem 😂. Three relegations in four seasons, financial oblivion on the horizon, an impotent ownership that doesn’t communicate and shows no accountability. An incompetent manager that nobody wanted, I could go on. 
 

It was by no means relentlessly negative yesterday at all. Bar a few boos for Faes in the first minute, there were no rumblings of discontent. We played some good stuff the first 25mins, albeit still looking shaky at the back under minimal pressure. The ‘negativity’ came when we yet again shit ourselves as we have done in most games for the past three years. We are now doing it at a level we’ve only ever been at once in our existence. The club is teetering on a precipice. We have to get this season right, otherwise the long term future is bleak. 
 

The ownership has been rewarding failure for the past five years, it does not mean the fans have to as well.
