For a while I’ve had a feeling the punishment could / should be a two division relegation which inevitably would be reduced to one on appeal, based on absolutely nothing as it’s all new to everyone. But thinking about it, if this is a PL decision, they can choose to deduct PL points, enough to essentially guarantee relegation (2nd bottom above Cov :D) or outright expulsion but can they enforce which Football League tier they go into? Or would it be expulsion, failed appeal, application to Football League for inclusion then the Football League deciding at which tier? What I’m getting at is that with them being different entities (as we smugly pointed out) it’s not for the PL to choose the Football League punishment. 

Fining them and giving them a two year transfer embargo would not even begin to represent a punishment, they have money, they have a squad of players, it has to be a punishment that wealth and stacked squad can’t counter.


And don’t get me started on Cheatsea….:mad:

Relegation with their resources would be unfair to almost every single other EFL club.

 

Get them in the National League where their pull will fund every club's existence for years.

My understanding is they can expel them from the PL but it gets very messy as the EFL would have to accept them, but at what level and to the expense of which other team?


The ‘cleanest’ route would be a significant points deduction to almost certainly guarantee relegation (80-100 points). Although, with their revenue, they’ll loan a few players out to save on wages and bounce back up immediately with probably the biggest points tally ever. They’ll then immediately be back in the top 4 with players back and PL money flowing once more. Not much of a punishment.

 

If I was going to hazard a complete guess, I’d say:

 

1. Significant points deduction 

2. Significant fine (which is essentially a ‘pay off’ compensation to all clubs impacted [a % going to every club to have played in the PL during the period])

3. Transfer ban of multiple windows/years

4. Ban from the right to qualify for European competition for a number of seasons

 

Although based on Man City’s statement today they’ll exhaust every appeal option and the case could rumble on for some time.

 

Whether those punishments are enough is a big question. Man City have been able to grow their entire club, including their stadium, training complex and revenue due to this rule breaking. They now have an irreversible advantage on other clubs year-on-year, which was obtained through cheating. However, there is no punishment that will remove that sporting advantage.

 

It’s a bit of a dilemma for me as I completely disagree with their actions but I also disagree entirely with the anti-competitive rules that were put in place which they broke.

 

As we have to sell Anderson and Minteh for purely financial reasons, along with the inability to hold onto players like Bruno, Isak and Tonali as other clubs can pay them more, it’s a slap in the face to see Man City circumvent the rules we’re trying to comply with.

The amount of clubs and situations that could bring about lawsuits to Manchester city could be huge.

 

 

Theres going to be a lot of club owners licking their lips right about now…

It’s been said since about 1995 that ‘there’s too much money in football’ and the ‘bubble will burst’.

 

I was beginning to think it might never happen, but maybe this is the start where it does begin to eat itself. A slow dirge of clubs suing each other.

It's one thing doing it with Cov and Hull in the league, but if they're in the EFL then ourselves, Bradford, Lincoln, Bristol, Salford, Swansea, Birmingham, Norwich, Stoke, Cardiff and York would like a word. Cityzens, sure, but f*** off with calling them City when you're discussing another club with City in their name in the same bleeding sentence!

Unfortunately we all endorse cheats

 

its a fact of life when it comes to being top of the tree

 

going off on a tangent here but look at all things that supports us all, food industry, energy industry, health industry, transport industry, judicially, Politics, employers, the list goes on 

 

Sport is no different, its not some sort of escape for us all, it is factually another part of our lives that get infiltrated with Crooks

 

doesn’t make it right, doesn’t mean “oh well”, it just means the same ole Sh*t 

 

and all we do as the puppets to society is go along with it unfortunately, we wag our fingers, we laugh, and then we do nothing until the next cheats/frauds come along 

 

look at any tree toppers and prove me wrong

All of social media is talking about lawsuits against Man City, but I can't believe no one is directing their anger at the PL, UEFA or CAS

 

This went on undetected for 9 years, was only investigated because of the football leaks emails. 

 

The Premier League's incompetence is unbelievable.  There were warning signs in 2014 when they broke UEFA FFP rules with PSG and agreed a negotiated settlement with Infantino. 

 

They were banned by UEFA in 20-21 and 21-22  but won an appeal with CAS on a technicality. 

 

City spent 4 years fighting the PL in the courts trying to prevent them bringing a case against them and I expect the appeal will drag-on equally as long. 

 

They are known to have cheated for 9 years and will have spent a similar time fighting the charges, When they are eventually punished, they should be expelled from football.

The excuse has always been that they do it to quickly distinguish which Manchester side they are talking about, because in their world there is only one place in the U.K that has more than one team with the name of the City in it's title. Bristol would beg to differ.
