Apparently had a 5 week transfer embargo in the summer until we sold players due to future PL payments not allowed to be counted - probably because they’re owed to the Australian bank.

"Leicester missed out on targets who were not willing to wait but Chaplin, McCarthy and Wes Burns were just three who were prepared to hold on to join Martin".

Is that code for 'no other offer's' ?

I think it's code for "20k a week in League 1 or 10k a week to sit on the bench in the Championship".

Or we are still paying over the odds.

That’s not even a question at this point.

He's a good player but a dread to think the total outlay on Riis - 4 year deal and convinced to step down a league...

Offered the highest wages

I can understand why you wouldn't mention this whilst it was in effect.

But a club that is actually trying to be more open and transparent with its supporters (rather than just giving sound bites in response to supporter group statements), could have come out after the window closed and said "this was the situation, we had to sell X before we could buy Y, we're not now subject to any more restrictions" etc.

But because they aren't actually changing anything because they don't feel they need to, the radio silence continues. Did Anthony Herihly not think this would leak eventually lol

The ones that left were on astronomical wages - the ones we have brought in might be on a hybrid of championship/league one wages which will be bigger than anyone else in the league but the current wage bill will be 20% max of what it was at end of last season maybe less - one of the only things I’m giving them any positive on is that and even then it’s there fault the scum bags were on those wages in the first place so not really a proper plus at all -however it actually got done so hey ho - and no matter how crap we do or don’t think Chaplin , burns , Cullen , ohora, lundstrum, smallbone are they won’t be on stupid money compared to Ayew, daka, Mav, faes , winks, skipp - 20% max

Ant operates at a level beyond our mental capabilities. He could explain this situation it to us, but we wouldn’t understand it so why should he bother?

"Is Russell Martin turning Leicester's fortunes around?"

Mate, it's been two wins, one against probably the worst league side we've faced in our history and we're sat 10th in ****ing League One.

Let's wait a bit, eh?

For a league that didn't know two of its biggest clubs (literally a third of their Big Six) were cheating for a decade and a half each it's rather astonishing the level of attention, law fare and downright interference they've displayed towards us for an inadvertent 'breach' caused by their own failures.

It not an embargo.

SCMP is monitored real time and each transfer is assessed against you current position, if it take you over it the limited the deal can't be completed.

Hence Faes out Smallbone in.

It based on player wages including against fees vs turnover.

Transfer fee paid are not included in the calculation, but transfer fee received are included in the turnover element

Debt owed to bank etc is not part of the calculation

We've got a thread of our own fans totally willing to ignore the evidence of their eyes and ears.

Perhaps it was a self imposed embargo? As in we decided to limit spending to cut our cloth accordingly for a change.

But if it was imposed from authorities it seems very tardy that we didn’t know. But I’m not surprised as our ownership communicates with us so poorly. And don’t get me started on how I suspect certain comms are directed at specific criticisms raised by fans - which I find a bit tragic really. Like putting a clip out there highlighting how defenders were running back to defend 😂

Exactly. The BBC report is misleading in that it has described a temporary restriction on spending under SCMP rules as an 'embargo'. If there was a formal embargo, there would have been an announcement.
