Sums it up nicely. I don't mind saying there were tears in my eyes by the end (though I'm a big Laurel and Hardy fan) I'd say 9/10 though (as someone who would never give an 10/10... yet, at least)

However, your children should be taken into were they might receive a proper upbringing. For shame on you, Alf!

But you'll enjoy it @Mark 'expert' Lawrenson

Yes, I was welling up a few times - and I've not seen any Laurel and Hardy for decades. On reflection, I'd agree that 8/10 was a bit miserly and 9/10 is closer to the mark.

I might try to get daughter to watch some L&H some time, though getting a 14-year-old to do anything she doesn't want to do is a task and a half.

I did get her along to a film a couple of months back - "Motorcycle Diaries", the film of the motorcycle road trip round South America by Che Guevara and his mate....does that count as a proper upbringing?

I do have the complete collection of L&H on dvd even Utopia, my 2 girls were never really interested, I don’t think they were too popular with the females lol probably because their wives were generally battle axes

The real-life wives as depicted in the film are amusing in their own right. Both L & H were married at least 2 or 3 times, I think - and Laurel wrote a lot of their material, to judge from the film...

I'm curious now as to what my daughter would make of them. I could imagine her being amused at the witty/silly scripts and the personalities, but suspect the slapstick physical humour might seem very dated.....must remember to try her some time.

Do you need to watch the previous 2 before? Planning on going to see Glass on Tuesday.

I haven't seen Glass yet but, I imagine it would have it's own story that you can view as a one off film. Seeing the other two films would give you more knowledge about the three main characters but I doubt it would affect the plot.

Personally I think Unbreakable is a great film but I found Split a bit average. Split is currently on Netflix.

I saw Glass at the weekend before watching the other two.

There are definitely moments in Glass that spoiled what would have been great moments in the first two (specifically the ending of Split).

Overall Split is comfortably the best of the three, a brilliant film. James McAvoy is superb.

Lion, starring Dev Patel and now on Netflix.Indian kid gets lost on a train, adopted to Australia, then searches for his mother using Google Earth. Guaranteed that someone will start chopping onions whilst you're watching it. Great film.

One of the best films I've seen in a long time.

As if they actually put Black Panther up for best picture lol It's not a bad film but come on...

The Oscar's are laughable at the best of times but that takes the biscuit. Personally I thought it was a bad film - not terrible, just poor - but subjectively there is no way it deserves to be on that list.
