Watched Return of the King with full orchestra at Royal Albert Hall over the weekend. Quality experience. Not watched it in a while and forgotten how spectacularly brilliant it is. Crazy that it's now 20 years old. The whole rings trilogy was truly lightning in a bottle film making. Nothing made nowadays comes close.

I was there also. Now completed the trilogy there. Absolutely flawless and very reasonably priced. Recommend for anyone interested in films with an orchestra.

Yeah I'd done fellowship and two towers there previously as well. For me LotR is the best film trilogy of all time and came out during my uni years so have a bit of an emotional attachment to them. It's also got the best film score ever imo so couldnt not go to these.

Definitely reccomend seeing a fave film with orchestra if you've not before. Seen Raiders and Jurassic Park previously and going to see the Tim Burton Batman in a few months. Wonder if theyl have a Prince impersonator for that one 😄

Top Gun Maverick on Channel 4 now, what a film

Came on here to post the same having just seen it again on Netflix.

Top Gun was my favorite ever film but Maverick might be even better.

Rarely do sequels surpass the original but this was worth waiting nearly 30 years for.

I fvckin loved it.

Watched The Holdovers last night which I enjoyed. Not sure it was worth a Supporting Oscar for the woman, but then again plenty get nominated for not too much nowadays.

I watched it last night…. Really enjoyed it…. Nicely paced and acted…

You read this don't you?

So many great movies people haven't seen "because subtitles".

Prefer subtitles to dubbed as you get more of the actual actor's performance in their tone of voice, plus they try to match dubbing to lip movements, which is why you sometimes get weird sentences as they try to shoehorn some words in. lol

I prefer characters to be speaking the language they're supposed to be using rather than some stupid English with ridiculous foreign accent, or like Sean Connery (Russian, Irish-American, Egyptian, Greek, etc, all with a Scottissssh accent.)

Ironically in Shogun though, the characters who are speaking English are actually supposed to be communicating in Portuguese. lol

I would just like to point out that some people might have ADHD and/or dyslexia which can make subtitles a bit of a nightmare.

I've done Home Alone and Empire Strikes Back. It was a really good experience, I loved the home alone one at Christmas time, with the ice rink nearby at the Natural History Museum, pretty magical.

That is literally me , I can do it but it’s not a relaxing experience and I end up having to concentrate so much on the reading I miss the plot.
