Bloody hell, I’d forgotten to check the score. How did Somerset get to the stage they were able to declare?

The fact Leics’ Twitter account announcing the declaration very quickly says that the follow on is 312 shows where their confidence is too.

1000 first class wickets for Jimmy Anderson, what a bowler.

A very good chance that he'll be the last man to ever reach that milestone too. Astonishing achievement and testament to his longevity and constant desire to improve.

A stat of note is that this was only the second time ever in first-class cricket that numbers 8,9 and 10 have all scored more than 75 in an innings, the other occasion being as far back as 2008.

Were we bowling then as well??!

Had a dream I was on a plane that crashed into the sea after a takeoff failure, Josh Inglis was the pilot :dunno:

Not a bad morning and some decent fight.

175/4 when we have opened with 2 middle order batsman and have a T20 specialist in at 5 isn't bad against a side who have been top 3 in the country consistently for years on their own patch.

Batting has been alot better this year. Even have some back up in the batting stakes.

Seam bowling is awful. So so bad.

Swindells has been very good.

Is it a bit odd that Marcus Harris who is nominally an opener and has opened in test match cricket came out at 3 with us having two middle order players opening?

Harry Swindells 70+ not out, seems to be developing as a batsman, done ok in the T20 when called up too.

I'm a touch biased as I know him a bit.

I think we can be very proud of Evans, Hill and Swindells' batting exploits this season. Three Leicester born lads all doing very well. Some counties don't even have three local lads getting in their sides let alone performing so brightly.

Now if only the academy could produce a couple of bowlers...

If cricinfo is up to date Barnes has got more runs today than he had in his whole FC career up to now.

He hit 3 fours off a de Lange over to get us a 4th batting point too!:appl:

Can't knock the boys today, really good fighting effort.

Well done today County. Batting has definitely improved. Would be great if Harris were able to return next season. If we can clear out a couple of squad players, such as Klein and Dearden (not sure of their contract length, and I know Rhodes has one more year), and replace with two decent seamers, one of whom could be an overseas, we might not be far from being competitive. Although he has yet to go big, I think there is a player in Rishi Patel

We are being competitive. This is Somerset away with a depleted squad!

If we get the draw we may go 4th. Surrey are getting a beating.

Fair point. I guess what I’m trying to say is that with the addition of a couple of quality bowlers we might be able to raise our expectations a little!

Middlesex have no chance of winning their match so we won't finish bottom, hopefully we can beat them at Northwood nezt week to end on a high.

We can take plenty of positives from this first-class season.
