C-man Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 That may be partially true mate, but what about West Ham and Crystal Palace then? Their support seems almost noble in comparison not to mention they aren't nearly as deluded as those Spuds or Arse fans. Still a mystery to me. Can't speak for West Ham although their lad on here seems decent. Palace on the other hand definitely have a deluded faction. Not quite on North London scale but still special. Plenty of references in this thread where they refer to us as 'Championship divs' or continued insistence that they have a better squad than us. They may beat us at the weekend and still be almost 30 pts behind. Their belief that they invented football support in this country and anything else that follows is a 'Palace tribute act' is also fvcking irritating. 1
Captain... Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 (edited) Stoke fans think there is an FA conspiracy to hand us the title This is Stoke who have taken points off Arsenal, Man City, Spurs, Chelsea, Man United and Liverpool this season? Our position in the table, and chance of winning the league with one of the lowest points totals in recent years is down to clubs like Stoke, West Ham, Watford, Palace taking points off the big 6 and not rolling over. Any attempt to disparage our achievements is also taking away from any good performance by Stoke or any other side that has contributed to the downfall of the established elite. They should be loving this and looking at how they can capitalise next season not looking for excuses and hoping for a return to the status quo. Edited 15 March 2016 by Captain... 2

Fox92 Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 There's no such thing as "luck". We are top of the league having played 30 games - luck has nothing to do with it at all. Reading the Spurs forum again is laughable. Never liked them anyway. Couldn't deal with them winning the League.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 The relevant bit for those who don't want to give cretins like the "journalist" the clicks. He does have a point, but the little dig at the end is unnecessary, our key stats are not that much different, it is not like we are running twice as much as any other team, Vardy wasn't slow last season, Morgan had the highest number of blocks last season and Kante was top tackler and interceptor last season. It is also worth mentioning that there is nobody in the club that puts it down to team spirit, our fitness and resistance to injury is down to state of the art facilities and investment in sports science. We are seeing the rewards of being at the forefront of sports science. Of course I am not naïve enough to suggest that there isn't any doping in football, but if there was anything going on on a club wide level then I'm pretty sure there would have been enough disgruntled and pissed off ex-players and staff members that would be all too happy to stick the boot in and get paid for a juicy expose. I think I broke their cunning veil of mystery - they've turned comments off now... Doping may well happen in football, although given FIFA's competence in all other areas, suppression of drug use would seem way beyond them. The idea that we suddenly discovered drugs this summer and no one else has is as laughable as any Spurs or Arsenal rant. Our players are small and athletic, they are fit, their health is taken incredibly seriously by our cutting edge medical team, and their load of games and training is less than most other teams. Ergo, fewer injuries. The big sides will catch on eventually, but not this year
katieakita Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 Thought our BNP links were down to a former centre half
Number 6 Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 There's another hilariously bitter mail in Football365 again today. Usual mentions of luck, negative football and us not having several broken legs and missing heads like everyone else. Haha love it. Also slags Vardy off for taunting Joe Hart when it was directed at City fans giving him abuse first. We've properly annoyed some people, and it's brilliant.

Corky Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 People have become so conditioned to expect the status quo haven't they?
Nalis Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Crystal Palace: http://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=106&tid=159075&page=4 Apparently our only decent players are Vardy and Mahrez, they counter attack better than we do and we've been lucky with injuries. You can do better than that Palace, not even a conspiracy theory in sight...

We've properly annoyed some people, and it's brilliant. The knives are starting to be drawn, from other fans and even some press... mostly down to us making them look stupid, but also having the nerve of having a bad spell and winning ugly for a few games. "Worst champions ever" etc being chucked about.
hackneyfox Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 Absolutely. Loser's mentality in the most self-absorbed city possible. The difference in attitude being two clubs are from a city used to getting what it wants and the other two from a city that has to work for everything it gets. London massively subsidises the rest of the country, slating an entire city and its inhabitants comes over as just as bitter as Spurs fans.

We aren't top because of luck, but this season it does seem like we have got lucky far more often than last. There are a lot of times this season where certain things have gone our way whereas last season on our bad spell, so many things seemed to go against us. 2

In that context, we have out-performed recently because we have not been good 1) taking shot opportunities, and 2) secondarily, creating as many chances as we can.

Although I agree with you that this year things have gone our way, these things even themselves out over time. How many times last year was it just not going our way? The Esteban own goal against WBA The Spurs defeat at home where we battered them The Liverpool away penalty debacle Villa away where we had a man sent off for no reason That's just what I've thought of in the space of a minute. Nothing went our way last year in comparison to what went against us.
DennisNedry Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 Have always kinda liked Tottenham. I don't have a second team by any means, but I'd much rather they won the title over Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea etc. Reading their forum puts me off them though, they sound like a bunch of melts.

That's my point really, I can't think of anything this season that's gone against us that was as contentious (read plain wrong) as say the Morgan 'handball' at Anfield last season.
Captain... Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 That's my point really, I can't think of anything this season that's gone against us that was as contentious (read plain wrong) as say the Morgan 'handball' at Anfield last season. Simpson sending off? Nothing was as wrong as Morgan's penalty at Liverpool, you can also look at Dyer's handball in the FA cup, you could also argue that Gestede not being penalised for a blatant handball in the Villa game for his goal was another decision that cost us. The other reason is when we have been on the wrong end of decisions, which has happened in a number of games, it has not affected the outcome, plenty of times we've had penalties not given, players not penalised and sent off when they should have been, but because most of these have not affected the result, we haven't dwelt on it and moved on. We've had our good and bad luck, and the good outweighs the bad for sure, but we've not had every decision go our way.

Harmless banter to be honest ... they know they are going to have to pull out all the stops against us if they want to get even close to getting a result.

stripeyfox Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 Saw a quote from a Spurs fan this morning bemoaning our "lucky" victory against Newcastle in which we scored with our only shot (and Vardy was offside). He said "FFS - Only Tottenham could be the best team in the country and still not win the league!" Ha Ha! To think Spurs might finally finish above Arsenal, United, Chelsea and City and STILL not win the league is fantastic!
Corky Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 (edited) What is this "best team in the country" based on? Most wins- us. Most points- us. Fewest defeats- us. Goals for- equal. Goals against- Tottenham. They have the best defence at the moment- that's it. Edited 15 March 2016 by Corky 1
