Finally, The Championship fear Leicester City!

Are Watford fans the biggest set of morons in this division?

"They will go up, a likely outcome is they'll come back down again and end up in more debt. If they consolidate themselves then fair play it's fully deserved because they've been amazing this season but once again the blow is softened by knowing that we will eventually go up and when we do we're much more likely to survive with the model and owners we have."

What's this model that they are on about? The model where Udinese buy a load of players and then give them to Watford? It's working really well so far isn't it they are only 32 points behind us.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche:

"That's the nature of the division, we're the surprise package. I certainly don't think Leicester are and I certainly don't think QPR are.

"We are that surprise package and that can be favourable to us. We have got a team who play without that feeling that them other clubs have got because there is that demand on those clubs to get the job done.

"Ours is slightly different - we have our own expectation, of course - but the outside expectation is lesser so on Burnley than them boys who are up there now."

Don't like Dyche, he just keeps coming out with stuff that tries to make Burnley look better. "Oh we are top of the league because we are the best team in the division" he said earlier in the season. I could never imagine Nige or Harry saying anything like that.

They probably were expected to finish midtable, and Burnley are doing well, but I don't think any Leicester City fan in the World expected us to be eight points clear at this stage.

"We were outclassed by a far superior Leicester side, I really wouldn't mind watching them every week to be fair. Pace, power and excellent passing. Jamie Vardy would be perfect for us, he's absolutely rapid and was a threat all night. Look, sometimes you turn up to games in our position and you have to expect to not get a kick. Unfortunately that's where we're at."

That must have really hurt!

I have just been reading around the forums of teams in and around the playoffs. Never have I sat at a computer with such a grin on my face. Literally every team who may challenge for promotion has nothing but praise for us and many (even forest) say we are a class above, are clear title winners and will probably run away with the league. I am so buzzing. I recommend you spend a bit of time reading the links. It will make your night! Up the foxes :scarf:

Wow have you seen SteveDoGs posts in that thread?! He hasn't got a clue whatsoever!

From that Birmingham board:

Yet again this season it says a lot about how crap the Championship has become that a team as mediocre (especially defensively) as Leicester is likely to be promoted.

Another brilliant quote from a Birmingham fan

Leicester are shit, they will be absolutely mullared next year, should they finally be promoted. Clarky could have 45 midfielders , it would sill only half as many as the number of precious moaning fannys on this site alone. If you really think spending 75 million quid the club doesn't have, on a bunch of, at the top level, has beens and never quite beens that Leicester have then you are quite clearly insane.

I hadn't but see what you mean! Got to be said that he does get shot down by others posters.

There's so much shit talked about administration even now.

Our benefit compared to other clubs who have done the same was that we didn't lose 10 points because it wasn't the rule at the time. We were promoted with a more than 10 point margin to third. We didn't sign anybody that season apart from McKinlay and Summerbee, both of whom were initially playing for nothing.

We tried and we tried and we tried to sell off the big earners. I can tell you for a fact that despite being offered very generous settlements just to get them off the books, some of our highest earners refused to leave because they were happy where they were.

Administration is neither desirable nor anything to be proud of and I am certain that nobody is proud of it. But it happened 11 years ago and has next to nothing to do with the club as it now exists. We spent one year in the top flight on the back of that promotion so it's not like it radically altered our history. Not of course, that us going into administration had any impact at all on us going up, because a 10 point penalty would have seen us still get promoted.

As for the £80 million of debt, well:

a) that's not true. We have £0 of debt. Nil.

b) most of that cash was spunked by Sven and the Thais on short-term deals for mercenaries (and some long-term deals for people who didn't deserve them).

Given the amount of money we spent from 2010-2012 we massively underachieved. Embarrassingly so and everybody involved with the club should be ashamed of that period of obscene waste.

But this 2013-14 team is doing a great job on what is indisputably a significantly reduced but nonetheless top-end Championship budget. With the money we have to spend we should be knocking around the top 6, but the season we're having is all due to Pearson's re-installation of confidence, pride and determination to the club after a depressing couple of years which preceded it.

Well said: I get so pissed off with fans of other clubs repeating these lies about us "fraudulently" buying our way out of the division in 2002-3. As a club we were stupid - allowing idiots like Taylor to buy in useless players on big wages as if we were going to stay in the top division forever - but we were not dishonest. To this day I remain convinced that had we not won promotion, no-one would have taken a blind bit of notice - not even that knobhead Warnock, who was one of the cheerleaders for the "lying cheating Leicester" lynch mob.

Did Muzz take a pay cut to stay here or did I hear that from some mad romanticist?

Wow that stevedog is clueless

Because I don't want a promotion without foundations and that's exactly what Leicester are doing. It's a recipe for disaster and I really don;t want to go down that road again. I dont want to be promoted having spent almost the whole of the first two seasons PL income, which is what Leicester are doing.

You're paying paying way over the odds for players who aren't good enough and have been for 3 years. That means you are 70 million quid in debt to your owners. So you think letting al those players go means you will be able to compete at any sort of level with teams in the PL? The agents will have you over a barrel as they will know they can ask for stupid wages or go to a more fashionable/established club. Then you have the problem of the manager, the sort of players the fans will want won't want to play for your current manager unless you offer them, ala Bolton, ridiculous wages.

It's an absolutely mental business model to adopt and, if you are relegated you'll be back in Division 2 inside 3 years.

Golden. A true'r gem was never found.  lol

Not really, obvious troll is obvious, and you all fall for it and bite!

I think it's safe to say we won't see Gary R. on here for another longer period of time.

Even his Brum fellas on that Small Heath forum acknowledge that he's lost that special feeling.

Some Forest fans clearly don't fear us, one of their threads was 'who would be in your championship dream team'.

One fan put five trees players in the first 11 and none of ours. A fair few of them think Andy Reid is the best midfielder in the league... HA.
