Guest ttfn Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Had a dream last night that we were1-0 down after 20 seconds but then roared into a 4-2 lead at half time. Then somehow I managed to get in the stadium and whilst celebrating a goal to put us 5-2 ahead, a lot of the players starting going mental at a fan, accusing him of racist abuse. The referee came over and then said that the game would not be restarting until the fan owned up. So as this stadium goes silent a fan stands up and says "I did it...and I have a bomb". One thing leads to another (did I mention that by this point the game is being played indoors) and it is my job to talk him out of blowing the place up. It turned out that the best way to stall him was to give him a World Cup trivia quiz every few minutes. As I distract him with my brain teasers all of the fans and players sneak out of the ground and eventually the FBI arrive (obviously) to helicopter me out on what I recall as a large plank of wood chained to the bottom of the helicopter. At that point I got a call from the bomber saying he had my wife. So I shouted "Noooo" and yelled at them to turn the helicopter around, at which point I woke up. I hope she was alright. Anyway, in summary, bet on England to be 4-2 up at half time, Toto Schillachi first scorer.
Legend_in_blue Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 If we play a slow tempo, we lose the game. Don't care how hot it is, we need to attack with pace.
StanSP Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 If we play a slow tempo, we lose the game. Don't care how hot it is, we need to attack with pace. We do. But we need to be measured and composed in our attacks. It'll be impossible to do it in these conditions for 90mins non-stop and it'll just be impossible anyway - Italy won't let us play like that.
MooseBreath Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Even though I know we're not that good, as usual I've somehow succumbed to hope, and as a result I'm already getting irrationally nervous. Almost wish we weren't in it so I could just enjoy the football.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 For years now, our defence and midfield has been in decline. We can't hope to control the game or possession for extended periods in the middle of the park. Certainly not against the best teams. Our only hope is to press hard and when we get possession to attack with pace. But having said that I predict Roy will have them set up to play low risk football and keep it tight, hoping that we'll miraculously get a goal from somewhere and that the opponents won't breach our impenetrable pairing of Jagielka and Cahill. I.e the same dross we've been playing for the last several tournaments.

MC Prussian Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Gianluigi Buffon likely to miss tonight's game due to an ankle injury.
marko Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Buffon to miss out. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jun/14/injured-gianluigi-buffon-italy-england-world-cup?CMP=twt_gu

Stadt Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 I'm falling asleep during the game now, I'm not gonna make it. Edit: Removed exclamation mark because I didn't want to be likened to Leicesterpool again
Jimothy Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 I'm falling asleep during the game now, I'm not gonna make it! Power nap for 20 mins you'll be fine!
Stadt Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Power nap for 20 mins you'll be fine!I'll try and sleep through half time
Unabomber Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 First beer cracked open too (everards tiger as it was my pre match beer of choice for most Leicester games last season) and my mate has decided to have everyone round for the game, so I am literally buzzing.
Fox92 Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 I still see the tackle by Moore (Ince ready for war), when Lineker scored (Gazza good as before), Bobby belting the ball (Shearer certain to score), and Nobby dancing (Psycho screaming).
MPH Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 If watching Waddles Mullet bombing down the wing doesn't get you in the mood, nothing will...
