Xen Posted 12 June 2014 Posted 12 June 2014 Looks alright on Henry Winter's latest tweet.... So the picture is taken from a high angle, far away from the pitch, and with a filter put over the top of it which makes the greens in the picture look a little yellowed. The picture is a bit misleading to be honest, the pitch is still awful.

Leicesterpool Posted 12 June 2014 Posted 12 June 2014 The game will go on no matter what, even if the stadium was under water the match would still continue.
Webbo Posted 12 June 2014 Posted 12 June 2014 The game will go on no matter what, even if the stadium was under water the match would still continue. We'd have to bring on a sub.
Ric Flair Posted 12 June 2014 Posted 12 June 2014 EXCLUSIVE: NEVILLE GIVES AWAY TACTICS TO BEAT ITALY CARELESSLY WE'RE DOOMED DISGRACE Or, as the picture showed, he was holding a piece of paper that the cameraman took a photo of and then decided to zoom in really closely to show everyone what it said. Thanks to the Mirror for this, and accompanying phrases like "unwittingly revealed" (when no one would have a clue what it said unless the picture was enlarged and zoomed in), really helps the cause. Couldn't give a fcuk anyway for two reasons. 1) making plans for your midfielders to make runs beyond your striker are hardly revolutionary given its a centre forwards job when playing on their own to hold the ball up and bring others in to play and 2) the Italians only know how to play one way anyway so it makes fcuk all difference. Poo particles on the paper would have been just as informative.
Xen Posted 12 June 2014 Posted 12 June 2014 If he says it looks better than has been reported, I'm inclined to believe him. Fair enough, was just going by the picture which still looks like there are bare patches on the pitch. If he's there and said otherwise, then I'll concede this one haha
separator Posted 12 June 2014 Posted 12 June 2014 According to the BBC they are painting the bare patches of the pitch green http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/27440803 (5Live update at 7.42)
Haydos Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Looks alright on Henry Winter's latest tweet.... It was always gonna be fine. Media and Public all needing to work themselves into a frenzy over one grainy twitter photo of half the pitch because something else isn't perfect.

Makes you laugh eh. It's like they actually want us to fail.
ScouseFox Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 slightly encouraging words from roy at half time there, basically saying the team for italy will be our team and not a team built to deal with italy, so hopefully if we play rooney or welbeck it won't be to stop pirlo, it'll be because we want rooney or welbeck to score.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 I'm going all out and think we will win 3-1... using our pace and having creative players like Gerrard on form will be difficult for the Italians to deal with... but we need to click and I just have a feeling we will do that
Stadt Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 I've just seen photos of the pitch for the England v Italy game tomorrow. The last time I saw a pitch in that condition was England v Germany. Christmas Day 1917.

foxes_rule1978 Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Us and Italy are lucky, we will get to play on it in its finest condition ... looks like a load of rugby players have just trained on it for a complete week...
One Legged Beaver Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 There must have been a pitch invasion last time it was used.
Danizen Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 If the BBC don't play 'Welcome to the Jungle' before tomorrow's game, I'm going to refuse to pay my license fee for as long as I live.
BoneDog Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 See that bit of pitch they were just stamping down? Looked like it was in the 6 yard box and had been done by a 12 stone mole. Frightening bobble scenarios for the keepers. Appalling hole.
Aus Fox Posted 14 June 2014 Author Posted 14 June 2014 Just a thought could the picture work in our favour, will make it more difficult for the Italians to keep hold of possession. Our players I feel are more suited if the game cannot be played on the floor than the Italians
st albans fox Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 if we look at the fact that our next two games are forecast to be played on Thursday damp mid fifties and the following tues pleasant low seventies whereas Italy have to play both their other games in the north (high seventies/early eighties) , I doubt we will 'go for it' in the conditions where players could easily lose more than a stone in weight and potentially screw themselves up for the next couple of winnable matches. I expect we will spend most of the game happy with a draw at the end. Of course we would have a few spells where we try and pinch the points but I would be amazed if Roy didn't take the rest of the group and what may follow into account when deciding his tactics.
theessexfox Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 It seems by all accounts that we will line up: Hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines Gerrard Henderson Lallana Rooney Welbeck Sturridge Annoys me a little when we could be lining up Hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines Gerrard Henderson Lallana Barkley Sterling Sturridge But lets hope they make me eat my words
