Pearson has never been choosing players for the Premiership before. We've got a huge number of worthwhile components and Defoe's one of a kind we haven't got. If Liverpool can sign Balotelli I don't see why Defoe should be that great a risk. Jimmy Greaves didn't run all over the place. But he sure fitted into the Spurs team and so have all kinds of individuals. QPR once had a bloke called Rodney Marsh and Southampton had Matt LeTissier.
