Confirmed: Ranieri new manager

Recommended Posts

Claudio Ranieri's managerial statistics 1991-2014: Games 943 W-433 D-264 L-246 Win Percentage 45.92%

52% premier league win ratio, only six managers in history (Benitez, Mancini, Wenger, Ancelotti, Fergie and Mourinho) were better than that.

Worked with Esteban before at Inter, so good chance he'll sign on. We could do much worse,

If he manages his career average with us, which admittedly he probably won't, we'd be on 61 pts (that would be enough for 7th place this year).

Why do we want Shakey to stay, does he have any sway with the players?

I would like Walsh to stay, they must know each other from their Chelsea days and Cambiasso as player coach......

He's a very good coach, often leads the training sessions and had a big say in the way Leicester has been playing, and has been trained in the past. Undervalued as a coach IMO because Pearson obviously takes the heat and the wrath from media/fans, where Shakespeare arguably had a big role in Leicester City under Nigel Pearson.

Did anyone catch Tony Cottee on SSN just now?! He was very very negative about this appointment and went on to say that we could do with signing a new striker. It's clear to me that he doesn't follow the club closely at all. He just stated what it usually the standard for a lower placed premier league side. Sky just asked him for an interview because he's already contracted to sky.

Pretty happy with this!   No manager is without risk and the owners have gone with someone with an impressive CV which is fair enough.

It might not work but it's worth a try and could take us to the next level.

I think the players will like him as he has a lot of charm and history of being the "nice guy".

Don't get why some are using the word 'Underwhelmed'.   Have you seen the list of clubs he has managed?!

I also don't agree with those who assume he will spend loads, he has been with relegation threatened sides before and not spent much. The amount we spend will be down to owners and Rudkin. Ranieri will just work with what he has and I can only see another 2 or 3 players coming in now anyway.

A guy who with vast experience who was depserate to manage in the Prem again, and who has a lot of prestige and contacts in the game.

Overall, a decent appointment.   Roll on Sunderland!!

Personally think it is a huge gamble but it might pay off as long as he doesn't tinker too much and looks at the last 10 games of the season before making major changes or spending out.

Clearly not first choice but let's get behind him and with a bit of momentum early on he could be great fun and the official site suggests he has worked with a few of the guys and he should have the right contacts

Did he coach our set pieces, if he did he was the worst in the league......

People moan about this because he's been sacked from high profile jobs, yet would also consider Moyes the ideal candidate, despite failing at Man U....

He's rebuilt clubs from midtable or lower leagues back to the big time and that's exactly what we're looking for. Carries a reputation that along with Walsh could really boost potential signings.

Harry can fook off, walk into the job? Well yes, we're not gonna make him complete the Crystal fvcking Maze to get in are we?
