MC Prussian Posted 7 November 2015 Author Posted 7 November 2015 Highlights from the Salford - Notts County game: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34752832 Pretty neat display by the home side, they were really up for it and gave it their best shot - on the other hand, some truly shocking defending by the visitors, who seemed thoroughly surprised by the opposition's fighting spirit.
StanSP Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 why is the Pompey boss being such an arse... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34758051
Fox92 Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 They play in the northern Evo stick premier you dweeb, beating a league 2 side is pretty fookin impressive. Where did I say it wasn't impressive? Just don't agree that they looked "very good". It was long ball stuff. Cheers for the insult as always though. Looks like you still can't argue a post without including an insult.
filbertway Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 Fancy Maidestone to beat Yeovil at home today.
The Doctor Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 Where did I say it wasn't impressive? Just don't agree that they looked "very good". It was long ball stuff. Cheers for the insult as always though. Looks like you still can't argue a post without including an insult. How does playing direct not make it a good performance? They weren't pretty but they controlled the game well and were better than a side several divisions higher. They clearly looked a good side.

It showed a complete lack of understanding of football and possibly life in general.
Fox92 Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 How does playing direct not make it a good performance? They weren't pretty but they controlled the game well and were better than a side several divisions higher. They clearly looked a good side. Just don't think they looked "pretty good". I mean, take nothing away from the result. They are very disciplined, can see that via the managers, and it was an organised performance but a better side than Notts County would've scored. (You could argue they should've scored). The goals were excellent though. I said last week I didn't realise Webber was there! And Jarrett too. Could do with them getting an easier second round draw now because I wouldn't mind going Salford away in the third round.
Leicesterpool Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 My dad went to the Barwell game yesterday, just 843 turned up which is a bit of disappointment considering it was the first round of the fa cup. On the pitch though it seemed like they gave it there best shot but just not enough quality to challenge Welling. If FC United Of Manchester beat Chesterfield, what about them vs Salford in the next round. That would be an interesting tie.
Guest Bilo Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 Incredibly, Barry Hayles is STILL PLAYING at the age of 43. His team, Chesham United, is winning 1-0 at Bristol Rovers.
Tuna Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 Clueless BBC reporters on Final Score banging on about the incredible story at Whitehawk. They have a top 6 conference budget, the shock would be if they were losing. Idiots.

They have a top 6 conference budget, the shock would be if they were losing. Idiots. Yeah, no real shock if we're honest. It was a cracking game though by all accounts.

They have a top 6 conference budget, the shock would be if they were losing. Idiots. That doesn't fit into the cosy story they are selling, just like Salford.
goose2010 Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 What a legend Barry Hayles is! he has put some timber on though!
isaidno Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Struggling to pick 3 televised ties from that draw.
ScouseFox Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Struggling to pick 3 televised ties from that draw. yeah. bradford/chesham if bradford get through, err, salford again? maybe stourbridge/eastleigh as an all non-leaguer and the smaller team at home.
Leicesterpool Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Quite an disappointing draw, gets a tad annoying when they gush over southern based teams doing well in the cup. Like Whitehawk and Eastleigh.
AKCJ Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Salford v Man U in the 3rd round? I was a bit dissapointed to see FC United of Manchester lose on Monday, would have liked to have seen them draw Salford.
Tuna Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 So the bbc are televising Salford again. A team co-owned by a Malaysian billionaire and 5 multi millionaire ex footballers who have featured in a BBC documentary AND already have had their last FA cup tie televised surely needs the exposure and revenue? In the immortal words of Kevin Keegan I'd love it if Hartlepool beat that lot. Babs the tea lady - fook off.
filbertway Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 Why wouldn't they? It's a step 7 side at home to a step 4 side. Dont worry, they wont put any decent ties on tv come 3rd round. Probably 1 all premier league tie and 2 prem teams away to a championship side. Only disappointment is that Stourbridge v easleigh isnt on. Stourbridge must be wondering what they have to do to get on tv.
Footballwipe Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 Let's face it, the Salford story, for a mass audience, is interesting. It's a genuine story; yes it might be taking TV "revenue" away from clubs that really need it, but it's literally the only tie I have any interest in watching. Also, when is the second round draw ever interesting? When most of the minnows have been binned off, and the highest ranked team in the second round is Walsall it's going to take a lot to capture the imagination. Usually the most interesting thing about the second round is the third round draw!
Wymsey Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 Genuinely think this Salford documentary insight has been good for a while, but now at the point that it's getting quite boring apart from the local regions.
RonnieTodger Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 Would be a bit sickly if there were any standout ties. BT are showing Rochdale v Bury and Grimsby v Shrewsbury, so that speaks volumes.
