Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 I think Drinkwater was on the near post and Simpson was marking Rondon. We just haven't got enough tall players which is why I wanted Benalouane in for Simpson but I'm not convinced even that would have helped us yesterday. We've done brilliantly to beat both Palace and WBA after conceding two set pieces at Southampton.
NZ_Foxile Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 Quite disappointed that there were anti Irish stuff yesterday The IRA DONT even exist anymore and James McClean has no IRA connections and has grown up when the IRA ad disbanded Most Irish people despised the IRA , like most Basques hate ETA or Columbians FARC Leaving politics aside the reason we use the poppy is to symbolise the ultimate sacrifice made by soldiers to ensure we the future generations have freedom to act and freedom of thought (something the nazi army didn't believe in) McClean is exercising that freedom and ultimately he is actually paying a massive complement to those who died !!!! he is utilising the gift they have given us the gift of freedom !!! it's that freedom that allows Him to make a choice and express it , his actions prove that those brave soldiers never died in vein. I respect his right to exercise his rights ! The irony is if it's forced on people to wear a poppy and people's rights are oppressed then really every soldier who gave his life for this counties freedom did so in vein To the idiot who kept shouting "you piky Irish c**t" behind me next time I might not have my 9yo daughter with me ! Bigotry should never be allowed , thankfully city is a wonderful club with amazing fans idiots like that don't represent my club they are embarrasing to themselves only ! Well said, I'm glad someone has written exactly what I was thinking yesterday. When we should have been supporting the team, a bunch of meatheads were singing about the IRA...WTF?! If it was supposed to be aimed at McClean, then that just shows the ignorance. Where has he ever showed support for the IRA? It was embarrassing to be amongst it to be honest. Sing for LCFC FFS. Can't stand the poppy nazis. I'm sure most members of the armed forces that that have sacrificed their lives for our freedoms would despise it too.

Usually Morgan and Huth are the main markers, and Ulloa added more height which is why I think he was taken away from the near post. No way should Simpson be marking Rondon though - a tall, physical, strong opponent.
Ashley Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 Personally think height is a myth from corners, plenty of small teams don't conceed from them.

It was McLean who chose to make a political statement , both disrespecting the British National Anthem as well as the poppy. He hates the English, but not enough to refuse the English pound
Crinklyfox Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 The PL contains players from many nationalities and I don't see why anyone should expect foreign nationals to express support for British armed forces. I've worked for a couple of US-owned companies and wasn't expected to support the US military activities so it's no problem to me if a player refuses to wear the poppy when working for an English club. I may be wrong but I don't think Ulloa had a poppy on his shirt yesterday and that's entirely understandable in my view.
ealingfox Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 First couple replays I thought Mahrez was well offside but seeing the line thing on MOTD it was bloody close.

Vlad the Fox Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 First couple replays I thought Mahrez was well offside but seeing the line thing on MOTD it was bloody close. Me too. It was his left lower leg, and with his movement and defence dropping its far from a clear cut decision.
stevelcfc Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 Neither did n'golo, or huth. But no one made a big deal of it beforehand Don't think Danny Simpson did either.

marko Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 Neither did n'golo, or huth. But no one made a big deal of it beforehand Don't think Danny Simpson did either. They were all wearing poppies at the start of the match, but changed shirts at half time.
Vlad the Fox Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 I heard that Huth apologised for the actions of his countrymen before the match.

It was McLean who chose to make a political statement , both disrespecting the British National Anthem as well as the poppy. He hates the English, but not enough to refuse the English pound He turned to side and dipped his head total respect to an anthem that he cannot sing , AND THIS IS WHT we do in Ireland , we only turn and face to the Tri-colour and we turn sideways for every other anthem your ignorance is the issue not his actions ! I suggest you watch the Irish team next time they play and see what I'm saying !!! And it's the GBP you fool not the english pound , the premier league is as much english these days as Coca Cola !!!! And the pound he is accepting is actually his home currency ! And hates the English what a load of shite put down the Daily Mail and maybe pop along to a cultural awareness course
The_77 Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 Their link up play is poor. Between them they completed 3 passes to each other in the 70-odd minutes they were on together (the same as Okazaki managed with Vardy in 45 minutes at Southampton when he was hauled off at half time). We certainly did dominate the first half but the incidents you mention include a "goal" West Brom had long stopped playing for and a ball down the inside left channel that came about from Vardy being at the point of the attack, on the shoulder of the last defender, just as he has been all season (I don't remember the header). And this is exactly the point you appear to have misunderstood or misinterpreted - I don't like the gaping hole which appears between our midfield and attack when we play with two #9s in a 4-4-2. Neither Ulloa or Vardy appear to have the imagination or touch to play in that role and whilst Vardy is in this sort of form I'm uncomfortable with us accommodating Ulloa. Yesterday Ulloa didn't help particularly at set pieces and I felt tempted us into too many early crosses across against three big defenders. This is probably Ranieri's fault as much as Ulloa's to be fair. Although you could argue that Ulloa's presence attracts full backs as well as centre backs and allowed Mahrez to sneak in twice I suppose. We still comfortably beat West Brom so for me to have a complaint about how we use our striking options goes to show just how far we've come. Another decent display against a really unambitious side so for us to come away with 3 goals is really good. Pardon me-- I wrote that post on the way back from a Halloween party. Let's just say I've had better moments of reading comprehension.

Guest Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 Enjoyed yesterday immensely. However people singing the National anthem made me die a little inside. Incredibly cringeworthy.
ealingfox Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 Was well nice hearing everyone singing Ranners' name so loudly, even if if was one of our most shameless song-steals yet.
Carl the Llama Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 Quality Why? I find it a bit strange. Compare it to the McClean issue - do you feel any obligation to apologise to him for Bloody Sunday? If you're like me you think it's a depravedly embarrassing act for your country to have committed, and we've committed a ****ton of atrocities under the banner of the Empire, but I'll be damned if I'll take the blame for summat I had nowt to do with nor would ever conceive of doing.

BoyJones Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 Me too. It was his left lower leg, and with his movement and defence dropping its far from a clear cut decision. Impossible to judge that offside with the naked eye. Definitely correct decision to give the goal. Also can't see the fuss re Ulloas shirt pulling in the box, the WBA player only got goalside because he grabbed Ulloa first, six of one etc. Ref knew it.
Number 6 Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 In the season we smashed the Championship we had 23 points after 11 games. Managed 22 after 11 in the Prem now with lots of same players. Superb stuff.
lifted*fox Posted 1 November 2015 Posted 1 November 2015 Far too many people caught up in this "it's OUR country so you must sing OUR national anthem and pay respects to OUR services if you want to earn money in OUR country." You sound ****ing deluded with your outdated opinions and quite frankly it goes against what most people fought for in the world wars anyway. I find overly patriotic people more annoying than people deemed 'not patriotic enough' tbh.

Superb stuff. We would have played more games at this stage in the Championship. edit: Actually ignore that, I read it wrong. After 11 games I see now.

The guy who ' hopes he dies on the way home' or ' gets cancer' because he didn't fight in the army for him didn't sound against the chants. Vile bloke.
