Wanted to see how many penalties we had got and found this comparison of last season to this season Makes some interesting reading, we conceded more penalties then the top 4 teams combined this season, Liverpool have conceded a total of 2 penalties in last 2 seasons combined 0020D0AE-379A-4DB8-B9F1-B65E0472C74A.thumb.jpeg.7fcfbc8499668c94f5dc9092eb23b10f.jpeg5A586646-BEB3-4795-8CDA-5FC465B6582B.thumb.jpeg.4923f1b607853fbc6e95783c6a1e8d79.jpeg

I have called conspiracy and everything before hand... yeah refs do intend to favour top 6 even with var too... it is not in my view cynical. The bigger we move our club forward the better. Let’s face it, we totally were to blame for finishing 5th, no conspiracy just we lacked the depth in the end...

I agree I was more on about interesting things like Spurs have had 7 penalties awarded last 2 seasons but only 1 at home

Watford 9 penalties awarded last 2 seasons 7 at home

Newcastle have been awarded just 4 penalties in the last 76 games and only managed to score 1 of them

Man City have failed to score 6 of the 15 penalties awarded to them over the last 2 seasons

Just frustrating... we only got 9 points from 9, don’t know what our players were doing during lockdown, but we were totally off the pace

In retrospect, we needed 14 points from 9 games ....... Watford and Bournemouth cost us big time given how those games played out ...

I'd be interested to know how many were Ndidi, cos I think it's 5, half of them.

I'm not knocking Wilf, I'd rather have him than not, but he does seem maybe not to have awareness of being in the box, don't do anything too risky.

Not accurate. Ndidi conceded 3 PKs (albeit still quite a bit). See stats in link below.

David Luiz set the EPL record this season for the most PKs conceded by a single player with 5.

So Man United have been awarded 26 penalties over the last 2 PL seasons, 11 more than the next team (Man City on 15). I don't go in for nut-job conspiracy theories at all, but that is one hell of a discrepancy.

No different with or without VAR, Man U are either very lucky or there is a hidden bias, even if not intentional, towards them

I'm sure United fans would say they have fast, tricky front players like Rashford, Martial etc. that are likely to win a high number of legit penalties. But I wouldn't say they are any faster or trickier than say Man City's forward players (Sterling, Mahrez etc) or Liverpool's (Mane, Salah etc).

That Man Utd stat is shocking, Liverpool and Man City have similar players but yet are so far behind in terms of penalties won? Haven’t been one for these conspiracy theories but that is bizarre.

Exactly! United have had a lot of help on the way to top 4 this season!

Leicester City have played more seasons in the top flight of English football than Leeds United (51-50)

I make it we've had 52 mate.

Reminds me of that old 'Leicester shuffle' joke with a pack of cards.

Do you know the Leicester shuffle?

No, what's that?

I'll show you. Here's 52 cards - take one away and there's Leicester shuffle.

Am I missing something with that joke? What's the funny bit?

A Leicester shuffle is when you drop all the card when you're shuffling them.

Not so much a crazy stat as such, but a nice illustration that shows that even without the anomaly of the incredible 15/16 season, we’re still making good progress - pretty much every year too.

This is great to see, really gives us some more perspective. We're making gains, for sure.

And to think it the picture included the five years prior it would show how unreal the past decade has been.

Sometimes I genuinely forget we finished 14th in our “Great Escape”!
