Fuchs position isn't guaranteed now with this lad.

He's a first team member

I would say that Fuchs is still first choice and will be chosen for the champions league games but after this season Chillwell is definitely the future

Glad he's staying but very disappointing that he's managed to become a millionaire before he's even kicked a ball in the Premier League. Exactly the kind of scenario that is damaging to English youngsters.

Problem is our hands our tied. We either lose him to another club who'll give it to him anyway or we just cough it up.

Totally agree Dan. It's killing pretty much all football outside of the top-flight in this country, including the national team.

Agree with what Dan LCFC said but at the same time, as others have said, if we didn't offer him that contract then someone else would have.

I honestly think that Chilwell is good enough to be playing for England in 2 or 3 years time - same goes for Demarai Gray by the way. He does seem to be a rather attacking full back at times, which is not exactly how we tend to play, but I'm confident that Ranieri can mould him into the defensive unit.

Very glad that he's staying with us, some much needed good news after a rather gloomy week.

Anyone moaning about what he's been offered would have also moaned had he fcuked off Liverpool for several million. Tea or coffee, tea of coffee. Two teas, you blonde bitch.

30 grand a week lol

I hate football

If true it's ridiculous. The kid will be a millionaire before he's even made it or proved he's any good.

By my calculations he's got 34 weeks before he's a millionaire and that's before tax. This lad is his premier league debut away from half of you salads pronouncing him as the next Roberto Carlos.

when I heard he might be signing, I expected to come on here and read endless posts congratulating Rudkin and the owners for securing  the long term services of one our most highly rated academy products. I've read so much criticism of our youth development, and many complaining that the club hadn't secured Chilwell on a deal and that we would lose him to a Premier league rival.

Hey, I'm no lettuce.

But this is a serious flaw in the English game. The kids have it too easy, they've never struggled, never faced the abyss. And it shows in their attitude with England being a prime example, this summers embarrassment didn't hurt them enough, they didn't care enough, they're never  working to secure their future when they're made before they've even played.

Porter, chambers etc must be cursing the fact they weren't born 15 years later.

**** sake you tight arses.

He could play 25 games this season and if it's another successful season will be well worth his 30k p/w.

There's a lot of money in football, and there has been for a very long time, get over it. It's not the young players fault they earn that much is it? Quite often, clubs are paying for potential. Look at Man Utd last season with Martial. A laughing stock with the £40 odd mill fee quoted, yet it's become quite clear Martial has great potential and nobody cares about the fee now.

We aren't going bust anytime soon, we are utterly ****ing minted like the rest of the league so don't worry about it.

I get the points people are making about young English players being overpaid but we should all be happy we are hanging onto a potential future star. Had we not offered him that deal and then he breaks into the Liverpool team in a year or 2 and then into the England squad and turns out a star, we would all be fuming that we'd let him go. This is a win win deal. If he ends up being crap (which I doubt) we can farm him off to some championship for a few million and if ends up great like we expect we potentially have a top left back for many years or we can sell for triple or quadruple the amount he would have gone for in this window. People complain about the wages being paid but remember, it's not your money and we are rich now just like everyone else in the premier league. We have to spend big to compete!

Why are we so bitter about players earning big money? Had we sold him to Liverpool we'd have got more for him than he'll earn in the whole of his contract. I appreciate the club contributes to his development but why should his talent be worth more to others than it is to him?

I'm not bitter about him earning big money, if he can get it then fair play to him he'd be a fool not to take it. My argument is with the structure of the game that allows a player to become a millionaire before he's even kicked a ball. Where is the motivation going to come from, if he turns out shit so what he can mooch around the lower leagues not caring. This is half the problem with the soft lads in the England set up, there not had to work for it like Vardy has, like Drinky has, they're academy boys all looked after and pampered, never had to tough it out. Personally for me I'd stipulate that players earning these big contracts under a certain age should have a large percentage in trust fund for later in their career or retirement. Forget the fast cars the mansions, the bling, help them to concentrate on the football.

I'd less that buy a few weeks due to what ever 6 figure sum will be coming his way via a nice signing on fee.

Should be mortgage free in a decent house by the end of the month if he signs. What a life.

He's a bit of a prat for waiting his long to sign, he's been on £800 a week apparently and we've been trying to get him to sign a new deal for th best part of a year. Ok, our opening gambit was probably only about 10k a week but I wonder if he'll try and get them to backdate it?! :D

It's a lot of money, but I'm delighted that he's staying with us definite star of the future, especially after reading all the doom and gloom predicted by the media scum....I just hope that any release clause has either been blacked out or set realistically high in his contract.

Fuchs was Fuching brilliant last season but Chilwell looks better and better every game.

I wouldn't be surprised if Chilwell was the starter by the end of the season.

30 k a week is what I'd expect for a first team squad member, I'm sure Amartey and Gray would be on similar.

Totally agree Vlad. There's not many industries where you get lavishly rewarded before you have actually achieved anything. In an ideal world you reward Chilwell with a nice new contract when he has established himself in the first team and proven he can cut it at that level. Instead we are paying him a wedge in the hope that he makes it and largely to stop him joining a rival. The guy is what 19? and he is holding all the aces, crazy.

Ps it's not about the club affording it, of course they can and other teenagers are earning similar money- that doesn't make it right.

SIMON JONES: Liverpool must pay £10million for Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell.

The Premier League champions do not wish to sell the England U21 international left-back but accept he has just one year left on his contract and they have been unable to agree new terms.

Chilwell is an exciting prospect that would challenge Liverpool's Alberto Moreno for a first-team berth immediately and Jurgen Klopp's persistence means the Anfield club has emerged as the player's first choice should he leave, despite interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Great news if chilwell is staying he is a highly rated and much sought after young defender with bags of potential and I hope he keeps learning from someone as good as Fuchs the fact that Liverpool and arsenal were after him shows how promising he is and I hope he gets and takes his opportunities with us

£30,000 a week for Chillwell is worth it. You have to be willing to play the game, and if LCFC wants to roll with the bigger boys, that's what it takes. You keep your homegrown talent, sell at a profit, maximizing your returns. We are putting ourselves in a position to do that.

He looks seriously good. It might be that £30k a week ends up a bargain. As depressing as that is in a wider context.

Has as he actually signed it yet do we know?

Not sure, but he looks quality again in this game. Like he did last preseason.
