Agreed, can see him being a big player for us next season (ahead of Fuchs possibly)

Chilwell needs to stay... Hope he doesnt turn out like a cunnt like joe mattock though.

Then he needs to crap or get off the pot and if he is not careful he will be at Norwich and going no where quickly.

If he gets little first team football next season then I wont blame him for not renewing but if we do what Spurs did with there fullbacks and rotate every game (Bar the big ones) then he should have enough time to develop and take the spot off Fuchs when he leaves.

Think so far we have handled him well. Last season he played with the U21 for the first time. This year he has trained with the first team and played some cup games. Ill be surprised if he doesn't get 20 games next season with the added European competition.

If he gets first team football he will stay I feel, if not he will be off.

Is he going to get more first team football at Liverpool or Arsenal?

Probably not but if he feels he will have the same chance at Liverpool or Arsenal but on better wages then he will probably go in my opinion, sadly that's the way football works nowadays.

He won't and shouldn't get in ahead of Fuchs. Not saying I think we should let him go, because I don't but to be honest he seems to want to go so....

Got a feeling he will play on Saturday as Ranieri could move Fuchs in the middle to replace Huth.....

Up the City......

Chillwell will end up in a situation like Matt Mizaga at Chelsea if he leaves us. Uncertain playing time, signing with a big club in the hopes of becoming big himself.

We're the biggest in the land at the moment, Ben. Why leave this, now?

He will get chances next year, Fuchs will be playing Tues/Weds in CL i guess, so I would think he is bound to see some action in the league next season at least.

We should just loan him to Liverpool so he can get some game time, if he can handle the pressure of top flight football at a lesser club we'll know he's ready.

speaking of Matt Miazga, we should get him on loan for up games and backup to Wes and Huth if there is an injury.

If he wants to go (likely if the reports of him refusing contracts is true), then I say let him go. This squad is built on characters that want to be here and play for the shirt, if he is after a move to a "big" club, then maybe he doesn't fit the bill.

Just dont see how theirs any truth in this.. if you look at his instagram and twitter he loves city. He also loves the players why would he want to leave after all of this including winning the league?

Just plain lazy journalism as per.

Mizaga should probably go on loan at a Championship club for a while, to be honest. I like him but he's so green.

I don't know who's pulling his strings or whether he's made his own mind up but Chilwell has never struck me as being desperate to play for Leicester from the odd bits of media speculation I've read.

He's clearly got wonderful talent, well knows that he could walk into many a team, but is being kept out of our side by a remarkably consistent and experienced winner of a left-back in Fuchs, having previously demonstrated that he's not yet the full-package as an alternative.

He might say he'll never become the full package without matches but the counter to that is to question why any manager would replace anyone who's doing as good a job as Fuchs.

it's a familiar problem made greater by the lack of any kind of decent football for kids between 19-23 unless they get a lucky break along the line and take it.

Leicester's management don't seem to mention him much which is not unusual but doesn't reflect any great optimism about his committing his future to us either.

Would he be a loss? Maybe. He's quite attack minded, something I've previously believed in passionately although we've just demonstrated you don't need attacking full-backs to be successful for all that Fuchs makes a contribution with his dead ball kicks and the occasional sortie forward.

I still find it remarkable we've done so well with so few players offering a serious threat up front but the stats are emphatic. Those few players have contributed a lot in terms of goals scored and the others just as much in terms of preventing the others from scoring.

So, clearly, my own long held theories have been forcefully disproved at Premiership level and I've no reason to believe it was in any way a fluke.

Quite the contrary. Once we started developing our season I never once doubted (if staying free from an injury crisis) that we could maintain it for all that I believed we should simply stay focused on the next game and doing everything we could to win it.

In fact I said many times and to many people that it would be a nightmare playing against Leicester, a feeling emphasised by Troy Deeney in what was the most revealing  commentary on the reasons for our team's success I've read.

So, in the end I'm not sure it matters whether we keep Chilwell or not. He's a cultured left-back, no question, and even a potential full international. But there are other types of left-back and I'm not sure he's as naturally tough and aggressive enough for what we need.

That may or may not come in time but still leaves the displacement of Fuchs as risky. Strong, quick, decisive, experienced and consistently effective .... that's a lot of ticks for Chilwell to match from a second choice situation, and even more difficult should the club feel he's not entirely committed to us.

I think he'll be kept and play a lot more with rotation as Fuchs is another year older and will have midweek CL games as well. Also we'll keep him for the UCL quota. Hope he stays. Only needs to wait another season and a bit to be first choice if he keeps progressing at the same rate. To paraphrase Uncle Owen: it's just another season and then he can move up from the academy next year.

Fuchs has pledged another year but after that the spots Chilwells , cant see him going anywhere yet

Fuchs is on a 3 year contract (two to run) then he is off to the States.

Remember when Mattock left for bigger and better things?

There's only one option that makes sense Ben.

I'd rather we buy someone than loan. If Chelsea wanted him so badly and he was happy to go there, surely knowing he would be nowhere near the first team, then they can train him.

If Ben thinks the grass is greener then good luck. If he wants to stay and learn from the Austrian captain and a premier league winning defender and a once again proven tactical manager then he is already in the right place.. He won't get much more money from Arsenal or Liverpool but at the same time he hasn't done much to justify much of a wage rise yet. I understand that you have to try to secure potential but that is all he is for now. Hopefully he becomes a great player and wants to do it with us.

Liverpool have 3 young (19,20,22) defenders in their U21 squad. They are wasting their careers then if Liverpool are after our younger brighter talent.
