fuchsntf Posted 11 July 2016 Posted 11 July 2016 Basically then:- Have a great season, help win us the Premiership title for the first time in our history and we'll retain you as part of the squad. Do little of note except give a goal away in an otherwise okay performance against Spurs and avoid committing yourself to a new contract, and we'll promote you from the bench into Fuch's place! Who wrote the bit about selling Chilwell and getting Rico plus £5m-odd change? Cos that's more the line I'd be looking along. Just confirming my thoughts, Chilwell has served his apprenticeship, hes earnt a crack. Fuchs is not being demoted just challenged. Plus with the new buys, all our players from last season, will be 'rested' during the season. Wasnt it you last season, who rightly posted we should look to improve and develope. Developement is for us buying and using internal rescources, Chilwell to my knowledge hasnt let us down, or even shown he is not good enough to make the cut, plus hes seen the ethos and understands the squad. Fuchs will still be major stay and Bbone to the squad, one doesnt cancel the other one out. I look at city being even more successfull, in the next few years, so even if we dont win the league, I would be planning for at least 60 games, plus the pre season tournaments. Natural tiredness, rests, and injuries, will now be more on the agenda, we can now afford not to have shoe-ins like Schlupp at LB. Both Fuchs and Chilwell will automatically be having a lion share of games between them., and I bet Fuchs, knows he doesnt want to play everygame, in either cups Lg, FA, CL, including PL. Ranieri and his staff, will want quality cover, in his defence, so why ditch anybody, who we know have reached good to top standard. Why should it be only place for 'one of us' syndrome.! Unlike some I enjoy your positive driving posts, dont you dare take the foot off the pedal now. We are the only true weirdos on this godforsaken, but sponspored by king dick forum. We must hold together to educate the doubters...Thracian characters need to hold their Sicas and peltast close to heart and body, dont faulter now..
MPH Posted 11 July 2016 Posted 11 July 2016 Schlupp can play left back, people seem to be forgetting about him. I think filling in admirably as an emergency left back and being an accustomed Left back are two different things. You wont go far in the champions league if you always go for the first option...
Mad Dog Posted 11 July 2016 Posted 11 July 2016 Have we ever seen any actual quotes from anybody about Chilwell wanting to leave or wanting a monster contfact here? He seems to get a really hard time which is unusual for one of our academy lads.
MarriedaLeicesterGirl Posted 11 July 2016 Posted 11 July 2016 Isn't Fuchs planning on moving to the MLS after 2017-2018 season in any case? Makes sense to transition Chilwell into the role.
gerrytaggart Posted 11 July 2016 Posted 11 July 2016 Makes me cringe when I read stuff mocking Jeffs intelligence...especially when its painfully clear that a lot of those who mock are not particularly gifted in that department.

We must hold together to educate the doubters...Thracian characters need to hold their Sicas and peltast close to heart and body, dont faulter now.. My underlying concern about Chilwell doesn't concern his ability but his desire to play for Leicester. I'm sure I read somewhere that he's been offered an improved contract but had so far declined to sign it. That may be tactical and it may be that he'd prefer to move elsewhere if he gets the chance. If it's the latter, I do see some potential benefit to keeping him as an option but don't see much point if there's a better option both in terms of personnel or transfer income. I do think he's potentially first team material and that it must be frustrating for him not getting the sort of match experience he needs to fulfil that promise - something I've remarked on many times. But I don't see that the manager can do much about that. I'm sure there people who are "guaranteed" games in football but I'd doubt that Chilwell will be one of them. And I'd be surprised if he got guarantees at Liverpool either. He may get a better initial contract but Leicester have already shown that if a player performs he gets rewarded. If Chilwell can't see that, or simply prefers the lure of Liverpool, I don't see a greater benefit in keeping him rather than letting him go.
ARM1968 Posted 11 July 2016 Posted 11 July 2016 I'm well chilled about this G. Stay or go biatch, stay or go.

Watching the preseason interviews, he seems pretty keen to get going. I mean, why would he be the featured preseason interview if he was leaving too? Makes no sense, plenty of others to talk to on Foxes Player.

ajthefox Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Wasn't Schlupp a striker when he was in the academy anyway and then Pearson put him at left back? He scored that hat-trick against Rotherham in the league cup which was one of his first senior games if I remember correctly?
st albans fox Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Another ITK Twitter scouser reckons a medical is arranged for Friday......... wonder if we can get Jon Saunders to tweet a photo of Ben training on Friday morning! .

lgfualol Posted 21 July 2016 Posted 21 July 2016 The LCFC Youth twitter says they've been told Chilwell wants to sign a new contract, if we improve our offer. Not sure how reliable he is but seems to know a thing or two.

dbtcity Posted 21 July 2016 Posted 21 July 2016 he does seem to be well on the ball regarding youth team info, great news if you ask me, has the potential to become our first choice lb for years to come.... or until he pies us for chelski after his breakthrough year
Gerard Posted 21 July 2016 Posted 21 July 2016 I could Chilwell and Peres being our full backs and given license to bomb on. Three MF's screening the centre halves and covering the full backs. Vardy up top with Musa and Mahrez playing quite narrow in a 4-3-3 allowing the full backs space to overlap them. That'll do for me.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 21 July 2016 Posted 21 July 2016 On 11 July 2016 at 11:44, Sir Claudio said: Schlupp can play left back, people seem to be forgetting about him. He has played left back, but very poorly in my opinion. He is not a defender by any means, and it was obvious at the beginning of last season that he was major liability with many of the goals conceded being down to his appauling positional sense. Enter Fuchs, and the defence tightened up markedly - the rest is history.
