Foxxed Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 This thread is fast becoming even more depressing than the politics threads.
MikeyT Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 The Reds will end their interest in 19-year-old left-back Ben Chilwell unless Leicester reduce their £10m asking price.(Liverpool Echo)
TiffToff88 Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 i imagine we would only reduce the £10m asking price if there are a shitload of add-ons include in the deal
Number 6 Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 There is no need for us to sell at all. It's not like we'd get a huge fee of we sold or P off a regular starter if we left him to go next year and take the tribunal fee (which admittedly would be less that the prices quoted). This is a instance where we should absolutely be playing hard ball. Would like to see him stay and get game time with us next year. I reckon he'd get league games with Fuchs playing CL and could then look to be a first choice LB the season after.
foxfanazer Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 Hope we show a bit of muscle in this deal. English premium applies so bang £20m on his valuation straight away
Webbo Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 7 million for someone whose never played a league game and clearly doesn't want to be here isn't bad business.
Lesta Legend Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 A willingness to reduce asking price maybe we should employ this negotiating tactic with Watford and see how far that gets us.
surrifox Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 Hope we show a bit of muscle in this deal. English premium applies so bang £20m on his valuation straight awayI think the days of being bullied by the likes of Liverpool are over (at least in the short term !)
Muzzy_no7 Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 Snap their hands off at 10m. The guys an ill-advised, arrogant idiot who will never make it at the very top because of his lack of pace. He really would be better off here learning from Fuchs and Ranieri.
Simo86 Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 Are the people slagging Chilwell off in here the same people who have been slagging Vardy off?
jimmy7587 Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 To be honest, I think Chilwell is going about this the right way. Whilst he is only young, he is still an England U21 international and probably backs himself as a player despite only making 3 first team appearances for us. He is second choice to Christian Fuchs at present, which I am sure he would understand based on Fuchs' form last season. In the long run, he'd ideally take over at left back from Fuchs; but that's of benefit to Leicester City. For him, he is probably thinking that he could make it as a first choice left back in the Premier League and doesn't want to wait a couple of seasons for regular action. Arguable whether he will get that at Liverpool but that's for him to decide. If Fuchs was to pick up an injury, and then he steps in and becomes a regular then I am sure he will more inclined to sign a contract with us. As for the "money grabbing" label, then I have no reason to assume he is in it for the money. Whether at Leicester City, or a move elsewhere, then he will be pretty well off! All part of the territory in modern football. I hope he does stay for that matter, as be good to have another talent coming through our system and making it at the highest level... with Leicester City p.s. Joe Mattock's move worked out!
Countryfox Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 7 million for someone whose never played a league game and clearly doesn't want to be here isn't bad business. No Webbo we want looooooads more than that .... seems to me transfer fees have gone wappy so lets join in ..... £15m ...
Tuna Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 I'd promote him to first choice lb and see how he gets on. Fuchs was looking very tired towards the end of last season.
Fitbaphile Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 I'd promote him to first choice lb and see how he gets on. Fuchs was looking very tired towards the end of last season. I had previously thought that, but Fuchs was everywhere for Austria yesterday. Played further forward than we're used to seeing. He looked much more energetic than most of his compatriots. At least he gets a break now, and he should certainly start next season for us, even if Ben stays
themightyfin Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 I'd promote him to first choice lb and see how he gets on. Fuchs was looking very tired towards the end of last season. Muppet

Countryfox Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 Robert Uche, our new Spanish signing, 18, has said .. "I can't wait to start work. the stadium is beautiful, the city welcoming and the sports city is not lacking anything". How refreshing ! And the young Prince Master Chilwell has said since he's been here ........ Yes it would be nice if he stayed and we need a replacement/cover for Fuchs but something in me just keeps saying ... grab the cash and .. GET RID !!
car1os Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 This article suggests we are trying to offload Chilwell to Liverpool... http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/football/posh/transfer-latest-elder-s-arrival-is-in-the-balance-1-7459796
TheMightySystem Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 This article suggests we are trying to offload Chilwell to Liverpool... http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/football/posh/transfer-latest-elder-s-arrival-is-in-the-balance-1-7459796 Would like to see what Elder can do to be fair, I think he can make the step up. If Chilwell goes then I think it is for footballing reasons. It could be that Liverpool have offered him 40K a week but he is willing to take 30K a week to stay at the club like Vardy has taken less then Arsenal were offering. No-one knows though until a deal is finished though.
MPH Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 Straight swap for Allen? They value allen at 15 million but only offered 7 million for chillwell so doubt they would do a straight swap.. Chillwell and 5 million might swing it our way...
bald reynard Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 They value allen at 15 million but only offered 7 million for chillwell so doubt they would do a straight swap.. Chillwell and 5 million might swing it our way... I'd say that would be about right - and I think that would be a good deal for us.
ARM1968 Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 Yeah could at least use him as a lever or tell em we value him at £12 millin.
FireFox Posted 3 July 2016 Posted 3 July 2016 Straight swap for Allen?Or we wait a year for their contracts to end, get him on a free and get a tribunal fee for Chilwell. If we get rid of Chilwell now, we'll need to buy a LB. We don't necessarily need another central midfielder (unless we sell one but then we'd have that money to buy another).
