Watching Tuna and AKCJ argue in this thread is tedious.

The bloke's a very good manager who's taken over a decent enough side and isn't doing very well, even the staunchest Pearson advocate (I put myself in that bracket) can't deny that.

1 goal in 7 games from a side that finished 5th/6th the previous year? We hounded Sousa out for less.

I do think he'll crack it at Derby given time but if you're defending the start he's had there then you're a mess.

Really hope Pearson is given the time to turn things around at Derby. Ideal scenario is he gets them into the top 2 with a great run of form in the second half of the season, gets an offer to take over at West Brom who are bottom and fed up of Pulisball, goes there, Derby appoint someone like Redknapp and finish 7th place.

Don't really get what their fans were expecting tbh. The only time he's walked straight into a job and got instant results was when we were in league 1 and had a squad that was way too good for the league.

1) The Donkey that was their leading scorer. Now the team cant score a goal. Like saying Vardy is an "absolute donkey" in your words. Clearly not a donkey.

2) So if Leicester lined up with a 4-3-3 formation, that wouldnt be much different from playing 4-4-2 then? Why do we bother talking tactics if its irrelevant

There is a large percentage of Derby fans who are sick of the bloke already. You can turn a blind eye to this if you want. Why should i care, im not a derby fan, i dont care how they perform.

Theyre gonna need that "strong team ethic" as you put it to avoid relegation at this rate.

Maybe their "sulkers and wantaways" were actually quite good players maybe?

Think the evidence is there for most to see.

Oh dear.

1) No, they aren't my words - otherwise I'd have said the top scorers at every club are donkeys or that Vardy was a donkey. I didn't, and bizarrely you did. The two are not comparable. Martin has scored plenty at Championship level in a team where the attack is geared around him, that has not won promotion. Put into a different system the more accurate comparison is Martin and Eeyore off Winnie the Pooh, not Vardy.

2) Again, I said it wasn't a radical tactical change, which were your words, not that there was no difference or that tactics were irrelevant.

I seem to remember there was a large percentage of our fans that were always 'sick of the bloke', despite the consistent achievement and avalanche of empirical evidence growing in front of them. Seems some of them are, incredibly, still bitter about how much of a success he was with us.

Maybe Hendrick is a good player. I wouldn't agree at this point but I'm willing to believe he might prove so. Do you even know if the Hendrick sale was sanctioned by him? It might have been out of his hands. When someone offers you 10m for a player who hasn't yet proven himself to be worth more than 4m, 5 tops, I think most businessmen are going to be inclined to take it.

There's no denying the start to his tenure has been tragic, obviously it is. We saw tough periods under Pearson, and he took time to get us moving when he came back for his 2nd spell, but you can't claim to know that this won't be the same. So the sweeping statements about things you don't know much about look as silly as the kind of shit I used to have to read on here about him.

I was far from Pearson's biggest fan but it's clear what he does when he goes into a club. He did it with Beckford, Danns etc here, he did it with Bullard at Hull and he's done it with Martin at Derby. He clears the troublesome players out and goes from there. I've never been a fan of Martin either, he's a big lump who walks around chewing his gum always moaning throughout the match, I'd have preferred he'd stayed just because they won't gain promotion with him leading the line.

What he shouldn't have done though is force 442 on a team without the midfielders able to play in a two, they have played 433 for a good 3-4 years now haven't they?

Danns lol I can't read his name without remembering the famous Lee Danns has dangerous episode and spending the next 30 minutes in stiches.

Ohhhh Alan Young, you were a clueless blithering idiot and an apology of a football pundit but you did make me laugh sometimes.

Derby signed Pearson knowing that;

1) They weren't currently good enough.

2) Person plays a different 'brand' of Football to Derby's perennial chokers.

3) Derby's misfits would soon be booted out of the door.

4) It might not happen overnight.

5) Pearson would get them promoted.

Pearson has done that everywhere he's gone. It's not working at the minute but given time Pearson is a genius at getting sides ready for and (in our case) taking sides up and keeping them there. Derby need to accept, like we did, that this season will be a write off. A January window and a Summer window and they'll have little to no excuses next season.

Currently there are plenty of better squads than Derby's in that league.

Derby's next match is Bristol City away, which won't be as easy as it sounds.

Then (after Liverpool in cup) Blackburn at home - after looking at some of Blackburn's highlights they do look poor all over, so this could very seen as a 'must win' for them.

Really can see Pearson's position being under great threat if they don't at the very least pick a point up in these 2 games.

I think if he doesn't beat Blackburn he's probably gone assuming he doesn't win at Bristol City. Blackburn are absolutely horrendous and will do well to get about 20 points this season at this rate.

Agree with this.

There's a slow start and then there's just going backwards.

Got to be fair to Derby, theyve ground out a good point today vs a good team at their own stadium in Bristol City, and thats important in their current situation because when youre battling relegation its important to show character. Its something thats been levelled as a problem in the squad but theyve shown they CAN get results and they got a goal. Maybe now the goals will come.

If they can avoid a thrashing vs Liverpool and keep it respectable, and then avoid defeat vs Blackburn then maybe they can start moving forward off the back of a mini run.

You get far too worked up over a manager that bought up Premier League football and a midtable finish in our first season lol

There was no dig, it was a genuine point.

They were unlucky today. pick something up vs Blackburn, there is signs of improvement.

I wouldnt even be following their results normally but maybe things are falling into place.

Aston villa fans were in meltdown on their forum the other night with them drawing with brenford in the championship and albrighton scoring our first goal in the champions league and us getting him on a free as well. ha ha. that's how it goes sometimes?

Avoid defeat against Blackburn isn't enough. They're hopeless and should be winning that.

Not strictly Championship, but I watched the Football League highlights show on Sunday and couldn't believe some of the names for the stadiums now. Cheltenham's Whaddon Road is now called "The World of Smile Stadium" lollol

The best ever was York City's 'KitKat Crescent' from a few years ago.

Huge game for Pearson today against Blackburn. Wheras a few weeks ago Blackburn looked completeley hopeless, a win against Derby and they would leapfrog their opponents. They'll be going into the match with confidence after a crucial first victory over fellow strugglers Rotherham last week. Derby conceded a goal with the last kick of the game against Bristol City last week which could be a major blow to their confidence. Exepct an edgy low scoring game with 1 goal between the sides.

Villa v Newcastle.

'The battle of the X minute clap'

Dunno what it is about these two clubs but they always seem to have a dedicated minute to clap in for some reason or another - Every game I watch that involves these two clubs there is one I swear, Newcastle it's that flight that went missing with two of their fans on, Villa it's something different every game.

As heart-warming as it is, I don't really get it.

The Newcastle one was the other Malaysia Airways crash 2/3 years ago, shot down in Ukraine likely to have been by the Russians. Two ''very dedicated Geordie fans were on it.

Villa was I think for some young fan who recently died of cancer iirc and some players met him in hospital before he passed away.
