unlikely. Slovakia penned 11 men behind the ball. Vardy or other strikers were getting no space behind the defence or on the ball. Slovakia sussed our gameplan at HT and countered it. Roy/England couldn't counter that move. Looked like we struggled for ideas from half-time onwards.

Everyone realises Slovakia basically played 6 in defence, 3 in front and Hamsik just in front of them right?

It's not like there was massive gaps for us to break into at pace. 

 

Crossing was a massive let down for me, pretty much every cross was about 70 yards over everyone. Shame Vardy or Lallana didn't take their chances first half, imagine it would have been a lot more open if they did.

Yeah, a fair bit. I seem to remember us counter attacking teams which mainly gave him his success. Aside from a few sexy little runs in the box like the goals against Chelsea and Everton.

 

Not sure how you counter attack a team that isn't attacking though.

Made the same mistake in the 2010 World Cup when we needed to score one more goal to top the group and avoid Germany in the last 16.  Instead we sat back, held on for the 1-0 and the rest is history.  We never ever ever EVER learn.

Can't wait for Hodgson to get sacked. The guy is a moron. Played totally into Slovakia's hands by failing to utilise the flanks and not stretching their defence. Doesn't help that he hasn't picked any out and out wingers, instead he's picked guys like Henderson and Barkley - wasted picks. Guys like Albrighton and Townsend would have at least offered a different dimension, an alternative.
