I wouldn't imagine for a second that he is the only one with 'the list', if he is then that is ridiculous. There should be a strong team behind him and hopefully some sort of succession plan, even if it is kicking in way ahead of schedule. If he is destined to leave then maybe the board could come to some sort of gentleman's agreement whereby there are certain targets that he will not recommend to Everton (unlikely, I know). Just think there has to be something in it for us if he's walking out on his new contract after just two months.

This would make perfect sense to me, However, we can have all the agreements we like with Walsh but I am sure that Everton will claim they they just so happened to have their own scouts watching the same players as us and there isnt much we can prove to say otherwise nor is there much we can do to stop them bidding for the same players... Walsh is worth his weight in gold. We need to do whatever we can to keep him. If that means getting rid of Rudkin and promoting Walsh to DoF then so be it. I see him as more valuable than Rudkin
richardsfoxes Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 Let's hope the next 6 weeks of transfers benefit us rather than demolish us because right now this is demoralizing.

Ric Flair Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 I hope any deal has a disclaimer that Everton are not allowed to go for any Leicester targets from Walsh's scouting missions to date. That should fcuk them over until next season.

urban.spaceman Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 Can anyone update me on the latest instead of trawling through half a dozen posts?

bald reynard Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 HITC reporting that Everton will have to stump up £2m compo to get Walsh. I hope that's too much for them !
Sammy Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 Incredibly disappointed if this goes through, gutted that he wouldn't continue the incredible work he's done in to the champions league and also that the deal we offered him SIX weeks ago isn't good enough to prevent his head from being turned. That said I am confident in the club, we have got it right so often for the last 5 or so years. Walsh will have set up an incredible team, who will all know how to work and yes he may be the main man but that doesn't mean someone else won't step up to the plate. Everyone can write us off or see us as a crumbling club but we've signed 4 players we wouldn't have got anywhere near 12 months ago, we have others to flourish such as Gray and we still have the underdog mentality. If all of that fails at least we get to enjoy Wembley and Europe next season but I'm sure that won't be all

ktfox59 Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 I don't know if this point has been made before, and I'm so respectful and happy for what CR achieved as coach and manager last season, but won't it be interesting if Walsh is leaving, what kind of scouting network he will have in place that will consolidate our place in the euro places, given that every player except a couple were scouted by the regime before his appointment. The two accredited to him haven't featured all season, obviously due to a winning side week after week. Is anyone wondering, as I do that his stance of not wanting to keep unhappy staff, and the public announcement of this, has had a negative effect in that other clubs think it's Xmas and it's becoming easy for our stars to say I'm not happy and want away. Or agents.

I'm probably making a rod for my own back here, to say that should mahrez leave, we would revert to a more defensive set up seen more in serie a. Is that a formation that would see the best of JV. Anyway I haven't a clue what's going on behind the scenes, so let's wait and see it all unfold.
MikeyT Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 Rob Dorsett @Dorselator 48s49 seconds ago Sky sources: deal agreed in principle to make #lcfc Steve Walsh the #efc new Dir of Football. Compensation agreed, finalising legal details.

Or agents. I wondered similar. If Walsh has put the systems and the network in place, would the loss be as much as feared? I know from watching some programme that a lot of our success has been based on stats where they have identified similar leagues so maybe someone could step up and continue the good work.

Just wish the unhappy players/staff thing wasn't made so public, in time it may look like a clearing of decks.
Fox92 Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 What's the compensation then. Knowing us it'll be £500.
