I'd hardly describe Mahrez as a mistake lol

A stroke of very good fortune then! But definitely not the hours of analysis people seem to believe!

I once heard it said that that happened because Walsh misinterpreted someones 'scribble'.....Highly unlikely I know, but would be a great story if true....Much like McLintock pottering off to Exeter to watch Alan Beer and signing Lammie Robertson because he was a last minute replacement and just happened to put in the best performance of his career that particular evening !

No he went to watch a player that went on to

sign for forest and was shit

mahrez stood out and Walsh groomed

him

Right so what exactly did he do with us then?

Umm, no he didn't. Claudio did.

If you want to argue about him putting in the foundations, you need to give credit to the owners and everyone else.

Disgusting if true.

Well he didn't exactly live up to the expectations Josh Low set did he

Hilarious thing about all the comments josh low gets on here is that he acknowledges he was ****ing shit here lol I know him and he admits it all! Currently working as a (successful) solicitor after studying for a few years alongside playing for Bath city for anyone that cares haha. Gave me a lot of interesting insight into Martin Allens tenure at Leicester.

Is he any good at scouting players?

Let's just remember one thing. Walsh coming in was really the first time in forever we had someone in that specific role...... Who is to say someone else can't do the same? Look at southamptons recruitment over the last for years, and they've got Les ****ing Reed in charge, who'd have thought he'd do so well after Charlton????

Now this his may be controversial but there's plenty of people in the world who can carry out the job in a similar way..... Only a month ago Everton wanted the man from Sevilla for exactly the same job....

Let's be honest now, as much as it takes some knowledge and analysis, there's also a great deal of luck and punts involved. There's no real science, the only place anything like that is being implemented is Brentford and it's going horrifically.

i like the guy, and appreciate what he's done, but I won't hold anything against him for taking a promotion, just as I won't be a tiny bit concerned about finding a replacement.

why is it we treat football so different to any other avenue of employment, take a look at your own job, there's a 1000 other people out there waiting and able to take it and do just as well if not better.

I believe this is also true In football recruitment too, Walsh is great, but so are many others. If he goes let's move on and recruit someone equally as passionate about unearthing gems....

Although I'm gutted, Walsh would leave a legend in my eyes for what he has done for LCFC, unlike Kante the little sh*t!

My view on this is this is the fault of the LCFC management / board, if we'd have matched the offer from Everton he'd be staying

One bit I can say is that the reason he was ultimately sacked (as well as 2/3 other reasons) is because all of the players went to milan and said basically 'either we go or he goes' ultimatum etc. Matty Fryatt despised him. Sounded like a massive power hungry twat who was tactically inept so no suprise to see him working in the basement of English football.

Thank you for sharing. Fascinating stuff.

Great post. Also Mahrez was a mistake. They went to watch another player and stumbled across him.

I have Faith in Claudio but it's the recruitment side I'm worried about mate, I hope we don't go back to badbuyis, or Jermain Beckford types all over again

Remember that Ranieri has brought reasonable success to wherever he has been without Steve Walsh. I understand your concern but this summer I'm sure everyone relevant knows who to sign with or without Walsh, we will succeed on Ranieri's tactics alone regardless of personel.

talksport reporting that Leicester have rejected Evertons approach for Steve Walsh. Another twist or poor Journalism?

Talkshite a station that survives on gossip and banter reporting a story broken by their parent company 5 or 6 hours earlier. Perhaps some of the unemployed on here could approach them to fill one of their vacancies. You will be ITK because you can tell them Walsh will stay or he will go and you will be right which normally seems to be their way of doing things.

Will be very sad if he does leave as we probably wouldn't have even been in the Premier League without him let alone won it.

That said, we've done some pretty good business already this window and will almost certainly have identified our targets for the next couple of Windows after that. Plus, he's not totally irreplaceable - our profile has significantly raised in that last year and Claudio has managed some pretty high profile clubs in his 30 year career - I'm sure he'll know just who bring in with the right credentials.

Still hope he stays though.
