Winning the league, with CL round the corner, not enough for him, Wow, I hope Everton are gonna be pulling up some trees next season then because I fear for him that he'll be terribly disappointed.

I was referring to post end of season. To them, it's a day job.

Who knows what's going on behind the scenes. If your business you loved working for now was great, you'd achieved a great deal then tomorrow they told you that they'd decided to go in a direction you didn't agree with, would you want to stay? Especially if someone else was offering you more cash!

What I don't get is Walsh leaving for Everton. Fair enough if he went to one of the powerhouses, but Everton? Maybe he wants a change of scenery and a new challenge after five years at Leicester. It's not like defending a title and competing at the highest echelon of European football is worth hanging around for...

I've read various things including he's an Everton fan and his family live close, by so I can understand him choosing them. And haven't they just been bought by a multi billionaire? So I guess they'll have big funds to spend and a with good manager in Koeman now in charge, it may mean exciting times ahead for them...

Don't talk such rubbish mate.  If Walsh goes we are doomed and the road back to League One will have began.  The only thing to do now is hysterically mourn the beginning of the end for our club.

I used to get excited when I saw John Percy pop up on twitter, knowing how he was often one to bring news about our transfer exploits, now I despair.

thank god he blocked me for sending him a gif after he got the vardy deal wrong, that being said i get the same blow about 10 minutes later from the telegraph twitter page

So a promotion and a chance to move closer to where he's from means it was too hard for us to resist the approach?

That's exactly what we were offering Troy Deeney. And lo and behold, a club that can offer nothing more than mid-table mediocrity had the backbone and ambition to say no, give their valued employee a better deal and convince him to stay. Whilst we are waving them off from the doorway with our best wishes. Embarrassing.

I find this Mahrez / Mendes thing very odd. How are people using that against Walsh? It was the system that found Mendes and Walsh that went for Mahrez instead. That's surely a plus for Walsh rather than a black mark.

Some more common sense spoken!

Chill out everyone. We will overcome this and move on. Trust the people running the Club to sort this.

I don't think people are saying its a black mark, more that the hype around him finding gems maybe isn't all it's cracked up to be. Maybe a little bit more luck that judgement, at least when it comes to how it's portrayed by the press.

Clearly the department can identify quality players, but occasionally there are going to be other players on show that the department are unaware of, because possible their stats don't match to what we are looking for, but they get spotted by vertue of the fact our scouts happen to be there.

Exactly what I said in earlier post. Intial approach rejected. SW wanted move and Leicester sort for compensation and its closer to 3 million

Sorry I didn't see your post

If he's left a world class global recruitment system that he promises to leave in place as his parting gift to us, then he goes with  blessings. If he plans to play pied piper and dismantle our recruitment team to go to Everton then I shall be a slightly miffed.

I just can't explain what's going on, just won the league and shortly going to be entering the champions league yet so many are wanting to jump ship. At the moment I'm finding difficult who to blame for all this. The owners I know are trying there very best, but is Claudio?

My question is who does the leg work for him? Someone in the recruitment department must seek out the players and form these dossiers for him to then go scout.

its not like he wanders around Europe with a tent turning up at random training grounds and finding gems.

There's an entire department that finds players.

Also so hasn't he openly admitted he found mahrez by seemingly accident, while he was scouting Ryan Mendes.

Also so vardy and been found by other clubs a and so had Kantè, Marseille had found him, and weren't Arsenal keen on him prior to us.

He's not the be all and end all of player recruitment, our structure still remains. Yes we need a new head scout to go do the leg work.

And possibly a new assistant manager, not sure how much he did in that role, seeing as Shakespeare and that young Italian chap are also involved in the day to day running of he team.

Finding talent is often an accident for all the groundwork you do. You got to a game to watch a striker and end up watching the best goalkeeper you've seen in years at that level. But something has to register. There's always something more than the obvious, something that sets people apart.

I remember shooting against Pete Shilton as a 15-year-old. With most kids you wondered if they might make professionals. With Shilts you knew he would play for England. It was plain to see.

At the end of the day it's the system and criteria we put in place that finds the players, the scouting team decide wether to pick them or not then pass on their decision to the DoF.

So, the calibre of player we might attract will remain the same but with Walshs great judgement going we might just buy one or two more duds than if not (depending on calibre of new staff member we bring in)

so I don't think it's a huge issue although does need to be resolved. All chilled here

Our assets will never carry more worth.....from a business perspective now would be a better time than ever to sell...perhaps the owners are happy for everyone to have a price on their head.....

If Walsh is so good he should be able to identify his own replacement that would cost a quarter of what he was being paid .

They're both 51. Both born in 1964. Both born in Lancashire as well, Super Steve from Preston, Everton bloke from Chorley.

I think we can all acknowledge that Kantè was potentially the best centre midfield player than we've ever seen at Leicester. Mendy isn't Kanté.

We've all seen the interviews where Walsh had to push Claudio to purchase him.

His loss worries me, as CR may be a tactician, I don't think he's a talent spotter.

Maybe he's annoyed we allowed NG to go? Maybe he isn't happy in the direction we're going. Everton are ambitious, they're potentially going to be chucking money around and making a lot of noise.

That would be the same Ranierii who signed Matial, makalele and lampard?
