thegaffa Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 All in all I'm quite happy with that performance as we looked OK defensively ( Huth is so important for us) and looked better going forward second half, so when our fitness gets better we will be more threatening on the counter. thought Drinky was a beast today and bossed it. think it proved the hull game was not a true reflection of us.
Guest Bilo Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 A bit weird for people to point out Simpson as a weak link - I thought he had a very solid game and actually got forward pretty well at times, which isn't always a part of his game. As with most of the team, far better than last week.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 What this game told me is we will be more than fine this season

Kasper looked solid, Simpson played well, Albrighton was OK, King looked OK, Vardy looked sharp - jeez, I think if you want a 100- nil for every game it's going to be a long season for you......... And the biggest screw up was Morgan's in the middle. Tbf he did play well most of the game.
desertfox2 Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 Can't grumble at the performance if it wasn't for the ref we beat Arsenal which is positive. Worrying about Mendy. Looks like a bad one. Musa looks like he will be a great player for us, had a bit of a Schlupp brain fart near the end though should have shot.
cityfanlee23 Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 Defensively - solid Midfield - average, overrun, no link to strikers Upfront - invisible for the majority of the match.
KFS Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 "Musa should have come on sooner" Gents, he was stood ready to come on for what seemed like ages. You know you have to wait for a break in play, right?
trabuch Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 We'll be even better next week too. Pre season was not good for football (but probably good for business)
TJB-fox Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 Simpson was great today, honestly I'm worrying for your sanity if you think he was poor. Bizarre

I'm talking about Kings strengths, he isn't a defensive midfielder. That's your opinion, I wonder what the stats say, i bet Mendy made more tackles and interceptions then King did. I find it baffling to praise to King above any other player. Who didn't mention Kante? Sorry if I misunderstood the part where you mentioned Kante. and no one is praising King above any other, I was responding saying he did alright and helped us calm down on the ball when he came on.

The non-penalty for the foul on Musa was bad enough, but the crucial moment was his decision to let Coquelin stay on the field. Don't enjoy criticising referees, but that was a dubious performance from supposedly 'the best'! Overall though, pleasing....far more energy than last week. Slowly but surely the confidence of last season is coming back. That said, it does seem that we're missing that little spark we got from Kante's energy! Agree with that - and Clattenburg really is a good ref (although he dif ref Spurs v Chelsea and didn't send any Spurs thugs off!). But if you rewatch the Coquelin incident, Clatteburg instinctively reached for a card and then though better of it. He should have trusted his first instinct

I admit I'd take top 8, but who'd have thought that two years ago?
SecretPro Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 Musa was our best player last week. Destroyed Arsenal in three minutes this week. Should have been on with at least 20 to go. Need to learn from that.

st albans fox Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 Just saw mendy on crutches with protective boot
purpleronnie Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 Destroys the myth that the big clubs always get the decisions.

Apologies, dude I did mention Kante, but the context was related to the type of player, rather then him, himself.
AyewJoking Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 is it me or does anyone think mendy should have cleared with his left instead of his right thus avoiding injury? he seemed to motion it was broken and i will be very surprised if there is no serious damage.
WiFoxes Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 I think the move might be to bring Musa on for Shinji after he's run his socks off for 65ish minutes. Then bring Leo on for Albrighton. Leo's holdup play was very good today though. Musa could have come on 10 or so minutes earlier, but he was waiting to come on for quite a while.
Webbo Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 I think we kept Albrighton on because he offers more defensively.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 Savage saw the game right... We did deserve a win there
trabuch Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 Wenger can fvck right off. Essentially saying we cheat our way to penalties last year and deserved not to get the decision. Hope he rots.
Webbo Posted 20 August 2016 Posted 20 August 2016 Wenger the snide cvnt, implying Musa dived after Claudio had been such a gent about the ref.
