Premier League champions Leicester have been cut into 8/1 by SkyBet to sign former Chelsea star Frank Lampard.

The 38-year-old midfielder is available on a free transfer after leaving MLS side New York City, following the expiration of his contract.

SkyBet have made Leicester new fourth favourites in the race to sign the former England international, with Crystal Palace out in front at Evens, West Ham United at 11/2 and Chelsea listed third at 7/1

Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri is obviously a big fan of the midfielder - the 38-year-old was the Italian's first signing when he was Chelsea boss in 2001.

Whether Lampard, at his age, could still do a job in the Premier League is debatable, but he would be worth signing just for the experience and know-how he would bring to the dressing room.

His goalscoring record form midfield is second to none, with 271 goals in 904 career appearances.

With the January transfer window just around the corner, there will surely be a handful of clubs who would love to have Lampard in their squad for the second half of the season.

Could Ranieri make a move for his former player and provide his side with a much needed boost?

Claudio will want Drogba next lol

No, unless he wants a wage decrease.

If he ever comes on his current wage, the likes of Vardy in particular would be unhappy and their performances would not be best like now.

What have we become

At least we'd have a midfielder who wouldn't be scared of shooting (and scoring).

What does it say when the current champions of England could be sniffing around for a 38 year-old midfielder. It's like something out of the early days of Mandaric or Sven.

I know times are hard for us but really, come on guys.

Depends on his physical condition. When he went to Man City he was surprisingly good. Better to give young players a chance IMO but could be useful to have around and help develop the midfielders. Potentially also useful in the last 20 in tough games / Europe.

Would prefer other options but could see it happening and not against it.

It will never happen but Id take him any day of the week over Amartey.

someone whose calm on the ball and can pick a pass.

Maybe but I couldn't see it happening my money would be on him going somewhere as a player manager. Palace could be looking for a new manager soon, could they be tempted to take the risk?

Yeah, apparently so!

Helped keep us up though didn't he? Couldn't give a toss what players are like in the dressing room if we're doing the business on the pitch. It's almost gotten too matey at the moment.

Can we get Ashley Cole, Sol Campbell, Stevie G and Shearer too!?

Don't ever want that cock shearer anywhere near our club. I personally would ban him even if on media work.
