sylofox Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Me and one or two others said we would stay up. I never wayvered I only had faith. Monsell will back me on that. But sorry voice of doom I only see us going down now. Unless we have a drastic turn of form. Unless our players most part of that escape sort it. Hero's all for the escape and last season. But sorry this season you are a useless bunch of sh1t. Feck off your now showing your colours. Enjoy your money sure you wont be bothered about us.
dmayne7 Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 I said it 2 years ago as well because we were playing well, the club was being well run of the pitch and all we needed was a little luck. Now look at it. It's sad that it's come to this but he has to go because he isn't doing anything to change it. Fans still singing his name is a worry.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Same here you could see effort and that we weren't far off... now we look a shambles and I just can't see how that is going to change
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 People backing Pearson and the team weren't showing blind faith, they were reacting to the fact that we were in every game, that we were creating chances and scoring even if then undermining ourselves with sloppy defending. This season we're just not even in matches and there's nothing to cling to of late apart from getting out of a sub-standard Champions League group.
The_77 Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 In 2014-2015, I believe only Leicester and Arsenal didn't lose a game by more two goals. That's the difference.

Yes was a great statistic which helped me keep the faith with Pearson, never wanted him gone and was no where near as bad as this despite having less points
Corky Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 And we didn't have a lot of players on extortionate contracts too. If they've got no enthusiasm for this division, the Championship will be horrible.
Fox92 Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Pearson always looked like a man who could motivate the players and I just can't see it with Ranieri. Especially now we're in a rut. Pearson built his teams, he built the club. He wouldn't have players demanding 100k a week, they'd be off and rightly so. All that building seems to be undone now, for me. Signing these players who won't want to stay when we go down. Pearson went for players who really wanted it man.

A lot of people wanted Pearson to stay in the great escape season, and I think it was justified. We played pretty well in most games. Never got battered. We would just make mistakes and give goals away when we didn't deserve to. You could see that the players were giving everything and that we were having more than our fair share of bad luck. Expectations were also much, much lower. First season in the division for a decade, and no-one would have been gutted had we been relegated. I think most would be fairly confident that we'd dominate the Championship again, or at least be contenders. This season is totally different. We have been utter shite for the most part in the league, and there are absolutely no signs of improvement. Not a single goal in 2017, and it's February in 70 minutes. This is the champions we're talking about. We saw, only a matter of months ago, what these players are capable of. There is an argument to be made that everything fell into place and we overachieved, but mid-table should have been the least we could have expected. As things stand, we are the worst team in the league, and it's only a matter of time before the table reflects that. To be frank, I think this team would struggle in the Championship at the moment. We offer nothing in attack, and we're leaking goals like a sieve. I don't know if many people realise what relegation would mean. I think it will ruin the club. The players don't look like they're motivated to play in this division, so how are they going to handle the one below? I think the squad will need an overhaul, but how are we going to shift anyone when they're on astronomical wages for the next 3 or 4 years? Answer: we're not. We're stuck with them. We're going to be stuck paying a premium for these players on a Football League budget. It's an absolute must to get rid of Claudio as soon as. We have to get someone in who the players will want to play for, because we cannot afford to go down this season.

Yes we didn't get thrashed but we went through long spells without looking like scoring never mind winning.

Unfortunately, we're one of the few sides to break into the top 4 with players on relatively low wages. If there was some magic formula for staying there without spending, then someone else would have done it by now. We just have to find the right balance. There hasn't been much evidence of this but I still think the results'll turn around and we'll finish comfortably above the drop.
Ric Flair Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 To even things up two years ago I was even more negative and even more annoying and we got out of it. I am happy to continue my relentless drivel if it brings us survival.
lgfualol Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 We were shit 2 years ago as well. I think everyone has just erased the memories of the truely dreadful matches. Funny how people look back on that time now like we were Barca without luck.

Mike Oxlong Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 The BBC match report from the Burnley game of us as a side "chasing shadows" was a very apt description of many of our recent performances.

Look at the Utd game, we were losing 3-1 and came back 5-3. If we are 3-1 down this year we would have no chance of coming back. we also used to pass it around and be more patient now it is literrally hoof ball. It's painful to watch
Buzzell Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 It's so hard to accept the way we play now, especially after seeing us whip the league last year. What an absolute shambles we've turned into.

It's painful to watch That FA cup game against Villa was not too easy on the eye though, was it? Five at the back against Hull? Swansea away? Ugh. It's just much harder to accept it this time, when we all know what they were capable of last season - and after spending all that money in the summer.

We had Gary Taylor-fletcher in midfield away at Chelsea. We had spent about £11 million up until January in the 2014/15 season. This season the squad has got a £30 million pound striker and we have spent over £70million in transfers with numerous players on over £100k a week.
Chester Dontlie Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 Is it possible to have 12-month-long hangover? Give them some soup already
sacreblueits442 Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 If you remember,we played great football in the championship. We absolutely walked it. I expected we would finish in the top ten quite easily in the Premiership. Pearson however decided that if you played the same way in the Premiership we would be slaughtered, so he played a conservative style which did not suit the team so we lost game after game. We were on 19 points with 9 games to play. Realising that his options had become limited he resorted to play the high tempo pressing game that this time is built for. Had Pearson stayed and backed his team last season's triumph would have been his. In relation to the Man. Untd. 5-3 result, it was obvious when we went at untd they could not cope with us. I wish Pearson could come back, a more mature, humble person but I can't see it happening. This team can play only one style, it is time they got back to it!

It's painful to watch i mean we literally came back from 2-0 down with ten men just over a month ago but yano. we were incredibly bad from united (h) in september to everton (a) in february in the great escape season. didn't we set some ridic stat of not scoring in games in a row or something. we picked up 2 points in 13 games over 3 months ffs. we were one of the worst performing teams in prem history. there's a reason we were a million points adrift and it will always be the greatest escape of all time. obviously this season isn't comparable because before the great escape year we'd won the championship, before this year we'd won the premier league. but for anyone to try and pretend that this time two years ago things were looking better than they are now is looking back with rose tinted glasses on. we're a long way from being dead and buried here. we're not even in the relegation zone ffs. two years ago we were bottom of the league by a distance.
Beechey Posted 2 February 2017 Posted 2 February 2017 Where is the team that could do this so convincingly? Absolutely oozing with confidence.
