Sevilla (H) Pre-Match Thread

Recommended Posts

"If we give this performance again, we will have a lot to worry about in the Champions League," Sampaoli told a news conference after Saturday's draw.

"These games, where your opponents punish you for each error, are much tougher and if we cannot improve our control of matches then Tuesday's game will be very difficult.

"With these two draws, we have not lost for eight matches, but we must be more culpable for our own actions during the 90 minutes.

"We have lost our footballing instinct and it's preventing us from controlling match situations.

"The solution is to continue to be pragmatic, [Leicester] are very fast and anxious to win whereas [Leganes] were very orderly and imposed themselves on us.

"We have to think about two different teams, two different but important matches, and prepare our best performances."

---

best start getting that team of analysts thinking then! lol

come to think of it, I imagine they've spent months since the draw was announced, analysing the Ranieri era, trying to keep up with his complicated tinkerings and predict our constantly changing strategy, personnel and formation, not bothering to analyse last season's footage because they believed us to be a completely different team (by their own admission).

all of a sudden, boom, curveball! as all their previous analysis is now useless and they suddenly have just 2 weeks to analyse all of last season (+our last 2 matches) to find a way around it lol they may well do, but essentially trolling them like that is hilarious to me

Getting more and more excited for the game! I hope we come out of the blocks flying like in recent games. We don't have to score straight away, but as long as we put them under pressure and get them worried, we can do it.

Bizarrely if we do score early it will give us a difficult conundrum. We will likely sit back and counter, but it will give them control and tempo of the game and if they get one we need to get another two. So maybe the dream scenario is to keep it at 0-0 and then snatch it at the end so they have no time to respond!

Could be the last time we ever see Champions League action at the King Power, so am determined to enjoy every minute of it and sing my heart out! COYB!

Flying over tomorrow, absolutely can't wait for the match.

Still can't believe we're in with a shout at a CL QF. We could actually do it. We could actually get battered. It's the bloody hope that kills you

Go 1-0 down early. Shinji pulls one back in bizarre fashion on the stroke of half time.

Mahrez free kick in 80th minute pulls us level and arise Sir Andrew Phillip King in the 95th minute ghosting into the box. KP erupts, think Howard vs Leeds on steroids.

We're all going to Germany to face Byern!

The Dream is alive people!! The Dream is alive

Saw some of the game yesterday. Leganes (the equivalent of a Burnley or Bournemouth) were the better side and should have won.

Nzonzi and Iborra came on in the second half. Nzonzi doesn't impress me - ambles along and looks like someone who didn't really make it in the Premier League. The same applies to Jovetic and Nasri (he didn't play either).

Ben Yedder did not feature either.

Defensively very suspect, particularly the young French centre half, Lenglet (Vardy will have a field day against him and Rami). The two wings backs - Mariano on the right and Sarabia on the left, likewise, are not proper defenders - step forward Mahrez and rip them to shreds.

Need to play a high intensity, pressing game.

Their confidence seems to be at the same level as ours was after the Millwall game.

They are there for the taking, especially with Phil Mitchell as their manager!

You didn't watch the first leg then?

Presume some of this is tongue in cheek. what is relevant is that after a couple of unimpressive results, an early goal for us would shake their confidence to a point where they could revert to the side that were never very good away from Sevilla which used to be the case.

I saw the first leg. They played against a side at our lowest ebb, with a Manager that was about to be sacked, and only managed a 2-1 win.

Regarding their recent league form, they are meant to be in the hunt to win the league, so it's not as if they have downed tools and are preparing for the game with us.

Do you seriously believe that Nzonzi, Jovetic and Nasri would cut it in the Premier League? Their level is Stoke, West Brom not Chelsea!
