Sevilla (H) Pre-Match Thread

Recommended Posts

I'm absolutely delighted that we kept ourselves in the tie and have now eased our relegation worries- it means we can concentrate on the game and just enjoy the occasion.

I think it will be a cracker- I think we'll win, but go out with a bang on away goals- 3-2 is my prediction.

I really can't see us winning this 1-0, I just don't think we're good enough defensively.

I do think we've got enough to win it though. I think how poor we were in the away leg made Sevilla look better than they are, and if we come out all guns blazing and get the first goal early-ish, it could throw them a little.

I think it'll be a really nervous game for us but I'm really excited for it.

If we score early they will have to attack us. That means we  could catch them on the counter attack.. The dream is on

We've had lots of big games over the years like cup finals, play off finals, matches in the run up to winning the league etc but is this the biggest game we will play in to date? I personally think it is and wanted to get other people's view. I guess our main focus is staying up but having a chance of progressing to the quarter finals of the champs league is huge.

I may be getting a little over excited as I have a ticket and I can't wait for the game! Atmosphere will be amazing.

The buzz for the champions league is back! With us now doing well in the league with back to back wins and 5pts clear of relegation zone, we can appreciate the biggest game in Leicester City history. This will be special :scarf:

I'd regard last season's fixtures against Man City, Arsenal and Swansea as more important. This is no doubt a huge occasion though

Seville are still huge favourites, but there is a chance we could do something amazing. Important we don't concede an early goal, make sure we're still in the game at half time. That's not to say we should be negative, but we need to be sensible and not go all out early on. We do need play with intensity though, rough them up a little and hope we have a ref who doesn't fall for their theatrics.

Irrespective of league form, everything that's happened with Ranieri and the overall negativity that has shrouded Leicester the season, what an incredible achievement. For a club like Leicester to win the group comprehensively and be a 1-0 win away from a Champions League quarter final is monumental. So, so many teams have spent fortunes, in both money and time to even break into the top four, this season included, yet here we are, a week away from an incredibly special game for the club. It's not a game where moaning is permitted. Nor is it a game where a particular dislike for a player, starting line up or substitution should be voiced. Instead, this is an all out celebration of a magnificent achievement, and should be done so with nothing but fierce backing, which, to our credit, we've been doing for years. People often say that 'anything can happen in football', which of course, is completely true. But we're Leicester City, so, as we all know, we specialise in the extraordinary!

Where can I find the odds for the game, I really think it will be pens.

How is it decided which end the pens are taken. Kop end would preferable.

  Cheers.

Pens are decided by coin toss unless there is grounds of concern for safety (i.e. the entire end being full of away fans). As always are in the corner and probably less than 1500 of them I would imagine it would just be the coin toss should it get that far.

As far as odds go, SkyBet have Leicester to win on pens at a cool 60-1 (Leicester in ET is 70-1).

Not saying it's going to happen again, but this season (CL and EPL combined) Leicester has kept seven or eight clean sheets while Sevilla has been shut out six times. 1-0 is possible.

Improbable, but possible.

In our last 24 matches we've kept 2 clean sheets...

If we are at defensively, no reason why we can't get through as we are now back in form going forward. If we can get through to half time with a clean sheet, that would really give us confidence for 2nd half.

I would play Slimani and get Albrighton putting balls in the box at every opportunity.

I'd like to see Slimani in for Shinji.

It was ****ing criminal against Hull the amount of crosses Vardy put in with nobody attacking them.

But there's no chance we'll change the starting 11 that's won back to back.

You'll see him for the last 30 mins if we need a goal.

Definitely.

If we're behind I think it'll be Slimani for Shinji this time. Pushing Riyad in to the middle was pointless, he's a winger not a "10."

I agree. It was always Ranieri's intention/wet dream to play Vards and Slim but somehow it never clicked from the first whistle but doesn't look too out of place later on in games.

Pretty sure the ref decides pre-game now rather than a coin toss. So it'll almost definitely be infront of the Family Stand if it comes to that.

If Slimani or Huth pick up a yellow against Sevilla, would they then face a 1 game ban if we advance to the quarterfinal? They've accumulated two yellow cards in the group stage, but I'm not sure how it all works out.

I thought they got reset after this game?

Could be chatting shite though.

got to be honest, I'm a bit excited already, and there are eight days to go. The last few months have taken some of the gloss of last season for the moment at least, but next Tuesday is a chance to celebrate the glorious last two years, come what may. That Champions league music is going to bring on the goosebumps, that's for sure.
