oxford blue Posted 21 August 2017 Posted 21 August 2017 It seems a reasonable prospect that any of Moore, Knight, Hughes or Johnson will be PL quality in a year or so. I can understand why there appears to be no current interest in Gibson as Morgan/Huth can partner Maguire. I think both have a year or so left -assuming they stay fit. It is a little concerning Wes appears to have another back injury.
one F in Fox Posted 21 August 2017 Posted 21 August 2017 I'm not surprised Morgan has back problems, to me his posture looks poor. He often looks awkward when he plays, not sure if it's something to do with out toeing, which can also contribute to back problems.

Foxes1 Posted 22 August 2017 Posted 22 August 2017 Apparently Man City have given up on Evans and now after Gibson according to the font of all knowledge the Daily Mail

Fox 4 Life Posted 22 August 2017 Posted 22 August 2017 I'm hoping this CB "crisis" will kick shakey into action and we will bring someone else in. Benny isn't good enough and Huth/Morgan can't be relied upon fitness wise.
dpjfox Posted 22 August 2017 Posted 22 August 2017 Hes not as good as Mguire imo but has been in the full England squad so is probably rated higher, plus we got Mguire relatively cheap so in todays market £37 million for 2 young centre backs is pretty good

Imo, this has always been the position we needed to strengthen this season as a matter of urgency, and its a worry if it takes an injury crisis for Shakespeare and the club to realise it. Morgan is past his sell by date at this level, Huth is getting slower and will take longer to recover from injury the older he gets. What are we f***king about at? Forgot to say, I hope they have realised, it cos there ain't too many signs of it thus far!

Yeah, and both Maguire and Gibson are better cbs than Stones imo.
Ian Nacho Posted 22 August 2017 Posted 22 August 2017 With Benalouane not being included in the squad tonight surely it means we're getting somebody in.

les-tah Posted 22 August 2017 Posted 22 August 2017 Did anyone else's heart sink when maguire looked injured tonight?? Makes it even more critical we get someone in.

Gerard Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 I'd love us to get Gibson in. I haven't seen hardly any of him but with his England selection and Man City's apparent interest it speaks volumes for his credentials. After watching Maguire add a new dimension it would be ideal to start him up with another youngish high prospect especially as Huth and Morgan are beginning to creak at the edges. It would be a great move for us and a great move for Gibson to play regular PL football with another potential England centre back for the future.
