Mahrez to .......................?

Arsenal FC is no longer a football club, it's an income stream for Stan, in a strange way (and I'll duck before the bullets fly) I feel sorry for the genuine old time Arsenal fans from Highbury, it's become a business NOT a sporting club with passion and history (of which they have an abundance).

In a nutshell Arsenal FC is EVERYTHING that is wrong with English football and why we will never win a major trophy at an International level.

I think Wenger is a quality manager.

I'm genuinely a bit scared by them this upcoming season. Last season they finally looked like they turned a corner when they became more flexible with their formation and went three at the back. They looked quality.

I think a lot of Wenger's problems over the last 10 years are down to predictably playing 4231. It's certainly a big factor that gets sidelined amongst the talk of the bad signings he makes.

So if they've become more tactically flexible, like they were before the Emirates era begun, then they are going to be a force to be reckoned with IMO, especially if they keep Sanchez as well as getting Lemar or Mahrez.

They've won 3 FA Cups on the trot, and despatched Chelsea pretty easily in the last one. Just because they finished outside of 4th for the first time in god knows how long it doesn't mean they in are in irreversible decline.

Even halfway through last season I was convinced he would be leaving in the summer due to his attitude on the pitch, but now after Arsenal's lack of decisive action I think he'll be here next season. All we can hope for is that it will give a kick up the arse and he'll have to perform again in order to get a move away.

Slightly biased?  You know we finished 12th right?

I think you've lost it a little at the end there.

Yeah true but the way things are shaping up throughout the Premier League it's all getting a lot tighter now with teams being able to spend money, we've got a unique brand behind us now of being the world-known "underdogs" of football, it's marketing #Fearless, we're only getting bigger and there's no reason to not believe we can become something more than that 12th place last year. I'm just confident and the club is also putting out an excellent image to the world, we've attracted Iborra from Sevilla who was taken in by the atmosphere when he played against us, we're on the verge of signing a top striking talent who could play for some top European clubs. We had Vardy turn down Arsenal last summer to stay with us, that's not normal for football. More than happy to agree to disagree with ya

Do think we might actually beat them in a PL football match then?

'Cos that's not happened since like 1994 - a season that we ended up being relegated again.

Would love to see a version of that video where they show the next 5-10 seconds of each clip.

I love Mahrez and would love to see him stay but.... He WAS shit last year and saying that doesn't make me any less a fan. These stats clearly show that last year was his worst season since we've been back in the PL. You can show all the clips of him faffing around all you want but if he IS going to stay he needs to get back to producing an end result. That's the Mahrez we will miss, not last year's Mahrez.

Looking at those stats at easy to see why nobody really wants him!

Of course people want him, the issue is people being willing or capable of paying the fee we'd ask. When The likes of Walker, Dier, Sigurdsson are rated £50m+ you can see that buying almost any premier league player is nigh on impossible for most, or just not value for money. Only those that are running down their contracts, on strike or just not wanted can be purchased easily.

The power has shifted back to the clubs a little bit the last few years, because all of them can turn down £40m bids and we can all pay good wages.

The entire team and CR contributed to those stats. I don't understand why fans are getting so caught up over one seasons performance. Performing at the highest level every season is unrealistic, he's not a robot.

He's a game changer and without him we simply don't have anyone to replace him.. Gray included

Last time I checked teams had 38 games a season, i don't think you can judge it by that mate. You then could argue why did they lose to (for example) Swansea at home in our title winning season when we done them home and away in more convincing fashion. I'm not measuring it on our record vs them specifically, i'm measuring an overall perspective taking into account 20 teams.

If you're talking about the upcoming game on the opening night of the season - then yes i'm fairly confident due to the backdrop for the game. Arsenal need a good start otherwise there will be mutany - and as a side we have proven under Shakey we can worry sides, they do not cope well with pressure at all. If there was ever a game against Arsenal i thought we could sucker punch them at a critical time it's now.

2 chances per game... decent finishing and he gets millions of assists.

Boils my piss that people want him gone. Comfortably the most gifted footballer we've ever had and people want rid.

How can you watch that video and not be in awe? The amount of people that just hack him down because they have no answer to him and the amount of times he wriggles his way through 3 defenders... he's a genius and I seriously hope we convince him to stay. This time next summer 50m will look seriously cheap.

I'm sure if I played 3500 minutes of football you could knock up a 10 minutes video of my highlights!

Fact remains that, although he is an incredible player on his day, he was well off the pace last season.  Mahrez on his day will be missed when he is gone, Mahrez of last season won't be as difficult to replace.  People will defend him, but I'm certainly in the camp that saw his heart was quite clearly not with us last season

My video is more complete

But yeah, as i rewatched all the matches, he seemed clearly disinterested. However I don't agree with the fact that he made a shit season, an average one is more appropriated (unless you're talking by his standard).

If Arsenal don't want to pay what we're asking for, they can **** off as far as I'm concerned. This is about more than just Mahrez - average players are changing hands for silly money this transfer window... what does it say about us if we're willing to cave in and let our best player leave for £15m less than we think he's worth? Where does that leave us in future, if other star players want to leave? What does that mean for our negotiating team when we're making bids for new players? Our owners and Rudkin need to show that we're not pushovers, stuck in a small-club mentality and that if people want to do business with us, for our best assets, they're going to have to pay the going rate.

My favourite piece of the video is watching all of our other players capable or willing to do similar step up to the plate....

Of course people are judging by his own standards, you don't compare Aguero to Matty Fryatt when considering how he's performing.

I don't know what this means sorry.

I imagine he'd look better in a team with more attacking intent, but for someone rated as top 10 in the world not that long ago, you'd expect him to maintain a high level of performance regardless of who he's playing with.

He should have stood out like a sore thumb last season if he's genuinely a top class player. I have no doubt Kanté would have looked a class above everyone last season.

@Col city fan I know what you mean about the finishing, it seemed the tactic was similar to sunday league get your head down and hit as hard as you can.

That's a twelve minute video not the whole season.

And the fact you have written fans in quotes, I take it you think anybody that criticises a player isn't a fan? Minds well just shut the forum down then, whats the point in debating.

More articles from the mirror and daily mail, claiming we're now much more confident we can get lemar for around £45-60m, on a 5yr deal + £100k a week, hopefully we can pull this off, if not i'd like us to come in with a nice bid for riyad, and to not lowball leicester. Either way, if lemar falls through i think we'll put all of our focus onto riyad if leicester don't tell us to **** off ofcourse :P

I think he really would look better in a team with players.  Got a feeling without Kante the team's inbalance of class makes us too wobbly
