Playing for Roma has to be better than potentially rotting on the sidelines at Leicester. That is down to him though and him alone if he sorts himself out he would be the first name on the team sheet here and cannot see Roma splashing the cash we want for him or paying him the wages he wants, mind you a beautiful city to live in.

Sly Posted 13 July 2017 Posted 13 July 2017 Personal opinion I know but you take the history out of Rome, I've always found it to be dirty, congested and not that great. However, they tick the box this season and he'll play. Not sure if CL is sustainable for them with the outgoings.
lgfualol Posted 13 July 2017 Posted 13 July 2017 Mahrez would go to Roma in a second. He'd be class in Serie A.

Echo the Roma sentiments but it would never affect a footballer whose going to live in the most affluent areas.
st albans fox Posted 13 July 2017 Posted 13 July 2017 I wonder if the club is so bothered about the fee if he were leave the premier league? I assume they know the fan base would be livid if he was sold to Arsenal for 35mill but to Italy? perhaps it could be smoothed out with Roma by including someone coming the other way. Anyone knocking around on their bench that could do a job for us?

crisp packet Posted 13 July 2017 Posted 13 July 2017 Every one still wants him gone? For 30m euro? Wtf...
StanSP Posted 13 July 2017 Posted 13 July 2017 Don't mind if he goes Roma but I hope the club insist on selling at the right price. Would much prefer he goes there than Arsenal. He'd be quality against) in Serie A as well. Would get so much more time on the ball to show off his skills and won't be scrutinised too much if he wasn't tracking back much

ian_marshall Posted 13 July 2017 Posted 13 July 2017 I'm not averse to him going to Roma but if we've told Arsenal the price is £50m then that's what they have to pay too. Rudkin needs to tread very carefully here as the second we agree to a lesser fee to sanction a move to Roma, his representatives will be straight on the phone to both Wenger and Rudkin insisting that's the price for any interested party, and I can see us having our pants pulled down in the process. We really do need to stand firm on this one.

Plenty of rough places in the eternal City not that Riyad would have to visit them, bottom line is though cannot see Roma paying what we want or what riyad wants but we will see.
Bert Posted 13 July 2017 Posted 13 July 2017 I think if they were to offer £35m he will go. If an English team wants him we will want more.
thybluefox Posted 13 July 2017 Posted 13 July 2017 I'm slowly coming round to him staying. The lad has been horrifically advised over the last couple of months. He's put his trust in his agent and entourage and they've given him pretty poor guidance. I feel for him a little to be honest (as much as you can feel for someone who earns more a week than I do in a few years). I'd rather him stay than go to Arsenal. A European club is a bit of a different matter. Imagine how good he could be with a couple more quality players around him here though? If he stays, and puts in the performances we know he can, it'll all be water under the bridge for me.

RoyFox Posted 13 July 2017 Posted 13 July 2017 A guy I respect massively for his data analysis and predictive analytics for the PL, Stephen McCarthy, landed the Head of Analytics position at Roma recently, to work alongside Monchi, doesn't surprise me if he had some involvement in this. http://asroma360.com/2017/06/stephen-mccarthy-new-roma-head-data-analytics-software/
STUHILL Posted 13 July 2017 Posted 13 July 2017 Be surprised if he goes to Roma, but it may be his only choice if he really wants to leave. Think he would be better suited staying with us another 6 months and trying to rediscover some of his 2015/16 form and then getting a bigger move that he seems to crave. Considering Sigurdsson is being priced at £50million, we should not accept anything less that £40million. We may have had a gentlemen's agreement in place to allow him to leave after 1 more season, but he was pretty pantz all last season and coming out publicly has obviously not impressed Shakey, so we should not sell for less than we can achieve, just to keep him and his agent happy. The club comes first and I think we will get the £40million if we are stubborn enough. I would like to see him moved on though, not in the Premier League. Monaco or PSG would be great. Keeps everyone happy!
thebluefox Posted 13 July 2017 Posted 13 July 2017 No way is Sigurdsson worth more than Mahrez. If Swansea can get £50 million for him to me that pushes the price of Mahrez higher. Sigurdsson has basically handed a transfer request in by "not being in the right frame of mind" to travel, so it's not that much different from Mahrezs' situation in fact it's worse as at least he has travelled with our squad.

I agree to this, unfortunately we had probably agreed to allow Mahrez to leave if he gave us one more season, and so if we do price him out of a move (>40m), then we could be stuck with a very unhappy player. I don't think Swansea will get the full £50million they are after, and perhaps will settle with £40m up front with some kind of add-ons. I think the best we can aim/hope for, is £40million and a move to France or Italy OR a "BIG" club doesn't come in for him, and we get a very determined Mahrez for another 6-12months, trying to earn himself his dream move by rediscovering his form from our title winning season. I'd be ok with either scenario. Selling under £40m or equally, pricing him out of a move he wants would not help Leicester at all.
