I'd hazard a guess that all these stories emanate from Mahrez's agent to try and get a bid from Arsenal.

I'd say so

Wenger would be gambling on the price going down, if he's even that interested

In a way I would rather it was Roma and now, means he is out of the prem and also gives us a month to sort a replacement.

If it drags on he will go to Arsenal on deadline day for £25m and we will be a) a laughing stock and b) screwed!

Put your tampon back in, there's no way he goes to Arsenal for £25m.

Someone texted me with the rumour. If we lose our only creative midfielder then Lawrence and a hastily recruited Barnes will be our only links to our strikers. Under these conditions, if Shakespeare has done anything other than deny the move, then it'll be utterly crazy. You don't let your only first team creative player go a week and a half before the start of the season when you've recruited no one.

These Roma rumours aren't serious. Yes they may be coming from reliable sources in Italy but I'd take that with a pinch of salt. European clubs are renowned for roping in favours from the media in attempts to unsettle player's in-order to try and force the selling clubs hand. Sadly for Roma times have moved on and with the financial clout that PL clubs have these days, not even smaller clubs in England's top tier can be bullied into letting one of their prized assets go on the cheap.

To me this looks like Roma have upped the ante and are reverting to dirty tactics as a last ditch attempt to prise Mahrez away as they know that they can't and won't pay the asking price, yet at the same time don't want their fans thinking that the standing of their club in world football has fallen so far down the pecking order that they're now unable to acquire the services of a player from a club like 'little old Leicester'.

Time will tell but realistically I can only see a move to Arsenal being a possibility as his salary is already above Spurs and Levy's pay threshold, and even then I think Arsenal will drop their interest in him immediately if they secure the services of their preferred options assuming they do actually sell one of Sanchez or Ozil.

They could if they deemed him worth the value

morse so with the income from

Thomas Vermaelen, wages

Wojciech Szczesny wages

Antonio Rudiger 30m

 Mohamed Salah 35m

Leandro Paredes 20m

as well as the expected sale of Kostas Manolas

Riyad Mahrez's agent still watches Soccer AM weekly, but is perennially moaning that "it was better with Lovejoy"

He ought to have watched Lovejoy it's much better than Soccer AM Weekly.

Very well put

I will quote you on that, on deadline day, when it happens.

The longer this goes on the better it is for other teams as we will just cut losses. Exactly the same thing happened with payet. Mahrez screwed us when he publicly stated he wants to leave.

I told you Corriere dello Sport isn't a reliable source...

No Italian sports newspaper is reliable; each has its own tribal loyalties. Possibly the worst (and that's going some) is Tuttosport from Turin, a fanzine for Juventus. Sometimes they bother to talk about Torino but they write what the buying public wants to hear. They all have a lot of column inches to fill (especially when there is no football) so it's open house on whatever you feel like writing. And as for AS Roma, a more corrupt, favoured football club that is allowed to operate outside the normal rules.....

Assuming the neymar to PSG rumor is real, and Barca can't lure away coutinho, perhaps they might come in for Riyad after all. It's probably just wishful thinking, as the number of teams that might pay us what we want for Riyad are dwindling.

Alternatively, maybe all of this whirling transfer activity will show Riyad just how low his stock is. Players are moving clubs at a frantic pace for ridiculous fees, and there's not a club out there that wants to bid real money for him. Maybe he'll come back to us, a more humble/ hungry player.

Only one thing is for certain, I'm ready for this saga to be over, no matter the outcome. I can only imagine the players feel the same way.

Mahrez's agent is a scumbag football players agent

Fixed it for you.  They're all the same, pretend to have the players best interests at heart but all they want is a big pay off for themselves

I see what you did there.  using cryptic messages to get across that Mahrez will go but we'll make a shock signing of Eden Hazard to replace him.  Probably used as a player plus cash offer for Drinkwater.....................

He's 5/2 to stay at City with WillHill. If he's still here at the end of this week and that price is still available I'll be lumping on

I think you'll be missing a lump of you did that. This has got "breaking news" on the sky sports news yellow scroll on deadline day written all over it.

He'll start for us against Arsenal, but will be gone before the transfer window shuts, I can feel it in my waters

He's likely to be in two minds.

If Iheanacho comes, he could be tempted to stay. A talented and highly-rated player.

But, with Leicester not in the CL this season - Mahrez may well want to go to meet his dreams of regular CL football?
