I know Simspon doesn't offer as much attacking wise as some fullbacks but his positional sense last season in my humble opinion was second to none. A team that manged to get to the Quarter Finals of the Champions League the first time of trying I'd argue can't be made up of a largely talentless squad. Methinks some supporters need to change alligiance to Real Madrid or PSG because we're Leicester City. Made up of hard workers - who won the league the season before last. I'd love us to establish ourselves as a top six club, but when we look at where we were nine years ago - about to start a season in the third tier - to where we are now - with a premier league title and a season where we didn't embarrass ourselves in Europe - in all my thirty something years supporting the Foxes I cannot remember a better time - a time to be more optimistic. I realise we're a victim of our own success. That it has given us all expectations - we've tasted glory and it's addictive. We have set the bar impossibly high. But I think the future is bright. With a little patience we'll be the team we all long to be. But don't expect us to achieve this over night. Don't expect us to take the easy route. Don't expect things to happen without a lot of tears and twists and turns along the ways. After all we're the Leicester City and we don't know how to do things any other way. A fullback that can't risk overlapping because the winger in front of him does **** all defensively. What's Wilfred Ndidi then? Danny Drinkwater? Matty James? A second striker who played because he causes mayhem and thus creates space for others. A winger whose best attribute is his crosses, you mean? Well said you pair ... put it much better than me and probably saved me a ban. Old Fox talks out of his Old fvckin @rse.

I see us finishing top 8 and I believe that our owners WILL sign a bona fide star if Mahrez leaves meaning we can push for top 6. I don't think that's pessimistic. Did you actually read what I wrote. I said that our team was rubbish for 80% of the season. I said that Vardy anf Fuchs the biggest culprits of underperforming were the two biggest reasons we won our 5 game run. I said we're top 8 and challenging for top 6 if Mahrez leaves because I believe that the Chairman will ensure we get a replacement of better ability (certainly better than Mahrez of last year). Those seem to be the things you are saying. If you look at all previous winners of the PFA player of the year (which Mahrez is) I cannot see anything to indicate that we could sign a replacement who was 'better' than the winner (in our case Mahrez). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/PFA_Players'_Player_of_the_Year Not one PFA player faded into obscurity, they all continued to perform at the highest level (one even submitted numerous transfer requests but remained at their club) yet we seem almost giddy in our desire to offload our most gifted player and replace him either with an untested and inconsistent u21 or some mythical not yet named player of superior ability. Mahrez, like the league title, is a once in a lifetime blip in the system. I for one do not want to sell someone who is irreplaceable. Spurs lost Bale, Liverpool Suarez and Arsenal RVP. All we're set back years in their progress. All have failed to replace them.
Filberts lovechild Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 If we've accepted £31M as reported somebody needs firing

breadandcheese Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 I hope that's bullsh&t. This is a PFA player of the year winner who was on the shortlist for FIFA's best player award. So it stings to be getting less for him than Swansea do for Sigurdsson, and not even getting the same fee as Roma received from Liverpool for Salah.

ronnup Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 We're going To be a laughing stock if we lose Kante and Riyad for 60 Mill
AlloverthefloorYesNdidi Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 If thats true then it means there has been nothing like significant interest from Arsenal or anyone else. It means that he really doesnt want to be here. It means the owners dont give a s**t about the extra minimum of 10 mil that he's worth because its nought to them and we will be massive, they dont want him mooching about the place It means KI is on the way in to soften the blow. Also Siggy
st albans fox Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 Corriere dello sport have tweeted an article on this so it has some legs. That's where the sun have taken their lead from. It is possible that he is so desperate to leave that he has forfeited any loyalty payments due from us. Not sure he has officially handed in a transfer request. Whilst the fee may say £32m, if this is the case then it may be worth £35m to us plus add one which I suspect most would accept if he isn't staying in the prem. no doubt Spurs are circling as they see this amount as being good value but I don't believe we would accept the same fee from them.
Bevilacqua Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 Corriere dello Sport isn't a reliable source, but on Twitter various AS Roma journalists are saying that the deal is done. Alessandro Austini, one of the most reliable, says an agreement hasn't been reached as of today though.
breadandcheese Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 We'll probably go and pay £35m now for Troy Deeney.
ousefox Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 If he leaves for a similar fee as Sissoko and what we paid for Slimani we'll be one of the biggest jokes in football
Realist Guy In The Room Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 If we end up with the lower transfer fee as reported, the fault lies with Riyad and his agent. That statement he released at the end of the season ended any chance of us getting top dollar and we all know it. We can all grandstand as much as we want about holding out and not needing to sell, but the bottom line is he doesn't want to be here and his performances last year reflected that. It's a waste of a squad place to try and keep him, he'd be a waste of space on the pitch and whilst we dont need the money and could let him rot, in the real world that just isn't going to happen. You can do it with players like Graham Fenton like O'Neill did without any great effect, but the truth is that sort of action would have a negative effect on many levels. Riyad and his agents have royally screwed up. Roma is a crap move if that's where he ends up and if he does, I actually quite hope he falls on his arse and its a disaster. He's the most talented player i've seen at Leicester and perhaps ever will, it was truly a joy to watch in the title winning year but his behaviour really has left a bitter taste. Fvck off Riyad you penarse. I hope it falls to shit and you beg to come back.
Babylon Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 They've reported it as being done about 3 times already. It's all grandstanding on their part.
AyewJoking Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 Quite depressed where Leicester are concerned. Still waiting on the KI deal. Possibly selling mahrez on the cheap. As yet, not enough new signings (Yep, a lot of clubs have made few signings but **** them, we need more or will struggle)
st albans fox Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 As a club, we haven't sold cheap over the past couple years but we have also not held onto staff who really wanted to go - kante and Walsh are prime examples of those who we could have held against their will but would have gone in the end. Walsh could have resigned and kante would have found a champions league side willing to take him for 20m as per his release clause. We judged Chelsea's 32 m to be good business in that context. Riyad has made it clear he wants to go. As I said above, if the sums can be worked out to get to £35m value to us plus add ons which could be adjusted to be quite achieveable) then I think vichai will accept.
UPinCarolina Posted 31 July 2017 Posted 31 July 2017 For that kind of money, we cannot even afford to get a decent replacement as clubs will know we're over a barrel. I hope Roma takes us out to dinner and dessert first before they peg us.

Roma is not a great move for him at all. The quality he showed in his title winning season could have got him at a real top club in England or Spain but he decided to put in half arsed performances, turn up late to training etc. Roma are obviously a bigger club than us but he's going to spend the prime of his career in a league with a couple of other good teams and won't get any further in the CL than we did. I won't tell him to **** off though as he's been class for us - but I do hope he is begging to come back in a year or two!
