He laughed. Sums him up. Sad to see Shakey didn't bring him on in his last game. The tears in the end shows how much we mean to him. Its a sad sad day.
Vince Vega Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Good bye to a legend. Thank you Was. I was trying to think of appropriate send off music for him. I thought anything by Elbow! ?

Ended up actually playing a big role in a couple of big victories for us last season to be fair. Superb service by him and someone who helps build team spirit. Proves how handy attitude can be in developing a squad.
Monsell1976 Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 East stand gave him loads of love and support second half, despite all the effort from the fans, shame he didn't get the last couple of minutes
Chester Dontlie Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 He was the reason I started following Leicester. They don't make CBs like that anymore. He was a rock for Poland and Anderlecht in his prime and it was a joy to watch him in Leicester colours (unless he got occasional silly card which was rare). Disappointed that Shakes didnt give him a send off. He is a true role model and professional. Always played with his heart on a sleeve, always gave 100%, from the first to the final whistle. We need more players like that.
drofmor55 Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Favourite memory was Was going over to Kaputska at the end of an away match saying something in his ear and pointing to the fans.....Kaputska then walked over to the fans and acknowledged them ...small gesture but it said a lot
TAFKA Castroneves Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Sad to see the big man go, came in at a time when we really needed that bit of a boost to get us over the line in the Championship and has always given his all for the club - perhaps on occasion too much I hope the Sports Science lot have taken his DNA so we can use it if we ever need. But in all seriousness, many thanks for everything Was, top man, top player and a big part of our voyage over the last few years.
nnfox Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Nothing but love for the guy. A real emotional send off, clearly hugely popular with the players. I thought the farewell messages from the players was a nice touch. I might have missed it but I didn't see a message from Shakespeare who would have known him better than most. Disappointed that he didn't get any game time today.
Langley Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 My favourite memory of him was I can't remember the game but we were losing and he was taken off bran across the whole of the pitch so we could have those seconds to push forward. Such a legend. He will be missed
Happy Fox Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Top professional, been a good servant for the club, wish the Was the best of luck in his future endeavours.
Bob666 Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Top bloke - you always knew you were going to get 110% from Was even if his legs had gone in the last two seasons

Such a legend. He will be missed Was also going to mention this. No sulking and wandering off shaking his head. The game was Watford at home in the Championship in 2014. We were 2-1 down having won the previous 9 games. Those seconds saved were crucial as Drinky scored a last gasp screamer to save us a point. Was, you're a legend and will always be welcome back here.

To see him crying after the match put a lump in my throat. Hope he is given a role in coaching with us one day if he does not return to Anderlecht or leave football for good. This is much, much more than a club. If anyone has any videos of the speeches from players and wasilewski walking to the centre circle with sound get them posted (My stream had no sound after the match) Thanks for the memories, Was.
Bossman Blessed It Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 His attitude and application has been fantastic. The definition of no nonsense and always looked like he had a smile on his face in training and never sulked after being a bit-part player over the past few years. Not so much in the prem, but he absolutely destroyed a large selection of championship strikers and was part of one of the league's best ever defensive pairings. His elbows were spectacular.
Devonfox1884 Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Watford away in the Chamionship winning season, last few seconds of the game, 3-0 up, Wasyl comes charging out, full force, and takes a ball straight to the face and just gets up. Hero.
Chester Dontlie Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 From Kapustka Instagram "I'm happy I got to know you. You always give your 100% and I know it's not the end of your footballing adventure*. I will always keep my fingers crossed for you and wish you all the best. Thank you for everything." *don't know what's that about, possibly a coaching position (Anderlecht??)... unless Wasyl fancies elbowing Chinese now
The Doctor Posted 21 May 2017 Posted 21 May 2017 Twatting costa, twatting Vaughan and Vaughan getting sent off for it in the championship, that crab tackle on Perez in the great escape - some great comedy moments; and a class defender to boot. Gold luck wherever you end up marcin.
fuchsntf Posted 22 May 2017 Posted 22 May 2017 One can find all the excuses.....There isnt one!!!! For Shakespeare not bringing Wasilewski on for 5 minutes..... The big man deserved his 5 minute with the fans.......
Arkie Bennett Posted 22 May 2017 Posted 22 May 2017 I reckon Shakespeare heard the chants as "we want Vaz".
ozvaldo Posted 22 May 2017 Posted 22 May 2017 He could have started him yesterday. We already had a make-shift team and I'm sure he'd have given literally everything for us.
Melbourne Fuchs Posted 22 May 2017 Posted 22 May 2017 What a legend! With an attitude like this it really is no wonder we kept him at the club for as long as possible. I don't think he's the sort of bloke to get worked up about not getting that final 5 minutes so we shouldn't either. Bye Wasyl!

In interview after Shakespeare said he had intended to give Was 5 minutes but was concerned about seeing the game out and sometimes there's no room for sentiment. Whilst I can understand the no sentiment view in general and in certain difficult situations, it was hardly going to be a game shattering, season changing decision yesterday and perhaps says more about Shakespeare trying to big up his managerial credentials, as Marcin was an easy target that wouldn't cause him any problems. Marcin deserved better. Shame Shakespeare didn't employ some of those supposed managerial credentials in dealing with the Marhez situation. Perhaps his bottle only extends so far.
